YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK (AND PLAY) ON 5 DE MAYO

A few times in the past we've received some photographs sent to us by some of our three readers that showed our state representative Rene Oliveira in obvious altered states, often accompanied with a gaggle of babes at some local bar.
We have usually deemed them not to be newsworthy and kept them out of our coverage.
However, this time the photos sent were during the Cinco de Mayo period as the text in the photo points out as the woman in the photo identifies herself as Oliveira's staff member (hanging with the the boss)
Oliveira (and some of his lady friends) have often been involved in public escapades, the most notable being the incident where a woman who was driving his car rear-ended a couple only to find out that the car was not insured.
In that incident, police reports don;t indicate that Oliveira was anywhere near, but comments from a few witnesses in a nearby restaurant (Cheddar's) said that they saw him – disheveled and in a state of agitation – calling people from his cell phone for help.
The woman (a Lupita) was eventually assisted by then-city commissioner Melissa Zamora who showed up shortly thereafter at the accident site  identified herself as a city commissioner – and told the woman she would take care of things. After all was said and done, the occupants of the car emailed us and told us that they had been stiffed because the car state rep's car had no insurance and no local attorney would take their case.
We have no idea if the photos were taken at a Cinco de Mayo fest in Austin included all the representative's staff, but it doesn't appear to be a group event. If it wasn't perhaps a bit our rep could be a mite more circumspect for the sake of public appearance.
Hopefully, the Cinco de Mayo celebration ended better than the car accident and everyone got home safely. As the title on the photo states "a little party never killed nobody."
