Mary Helen Flores' Citizens Against Voter Abuse is featured in National Public Radio's three-part series on corruption in South Texas.
Flores was interviewed over the past three weeks and speaks about the group's work to stop mail-in voter fraud and the harvesting of votes of elderly clients of adult day-care centers by politiqueras paid by local politicians.
Also interviewed as part of the series were some well-known politiqueras.

HELEN FLORES was a fix when she was younger. Hijole. Me asombre! Que belleza, y para donde fue? Aha ha ha Aha ha ha
CAVA had NOTHING to do with finding out the corruption..she just took the credit from Yolanda Begum and Laura Miniel. She is just an opportunist that got paid to do a job with others and now wants to take all the credit.
Why didn't she go after Jessica Tetreu after Sylvia Garza Perez, Erin Hernandez and Norma Hernandez were picking up elderly people to vote for her and Tony Martinez?
No le combienie.
Please do a poll to find out the most popular pubic hair styles, broken down by age and gender. I’m curious to see what other women my age are doing down there.
BTW, I was at Palo Alto steak house over the weekend and saw Robert Sanchez eating a streak like he was starving. Not into your own seafood, Robert?
At some point perhaps negative news items like this NPR piece will cause Valley politicians to seek to change the culture of corruption in Valley politics. Unfortunately, elected officials won office using this corruption and we see no evidence of anyone in office taking a public stand against this corruption in our elections. Thus, the Valley can expect more negative stories in the national media. And we must note that local media seems to be in denial about this corruption.
No more voter corruption than tthe Republican Party's making it difficult for people to vote by quasi legal hocus-Pocus legislation .
Great work by CAVA. Glad we have that group here doing what needs to be done.
Someone does good in this shithole town and the crabs come out. Good job CAVA.
It is not just the adult day care centers. We did vote by absentee ballot two years ago. Last year some young woman showed up to the house before the actual election date and asked us if we would vote absentee. We had already voted at the library. This year we received a request for absentee ballots in the mail all filled out (even with our birthdays), me listed as disabled ( I am not). How did they get all the information? Open records? I am complaining and hope they find out who set this guy up to request it in our names.
At last, the Valley is being recognized for it unique culture. It is about time we got what we deserved!
Don't forget the Pendergast Macihine, Chicago. New York. Huey Long, Box 13 in Jim Wells County. Parr Macine, Laredo, A.Y. Baker,, etc. Etc. La comadre del 422.
CAVA credit????
No, not cava, more like Laura Miniel
Cava why don't you go after the politicians who use these method, that's where you all need to focus on with this, the politiquero/as is just step one, step two is the politicians. ask gilberto, hinojosa, joe rivera, sofie benavides, tony yzaguirre, the elected judges, constables, sheriffs, that is where the root of this cancerous operation is at. is.
what if I wanted to sell my vote? to those that don't care about politics, that often happens.
the older folks at the day cares don't give a rats ass who is running for office. most of them will gladly give their votes for pan dulce, and gifts for their bingo.
who is wrong then?
The finest coffee in the world is with foreign pastry, (pan dulce) and it's free during elections .
Yup...
Hey Rick the Prick, Chapo is coming to take back his Charro costume he loaned you.
