(Ed.'s Note: We received several comments from some of out three readers after this photo appeared in the pages of the local daily during Memorial Day. The writers say that the guy on the left riding with past Veterans of Foreign Wars commander Luis Lucio (on the far right) is not a veteran of foreign wars. According to the national VFW, membership eligibility in the organization is limited to "Those serving honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces in a foreign war or overseas operation recognized by a campaign medal, in Korea after June 30, 1949, and recipients of hostile-fire or imminent danger pay. Veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Lebanon, Persian Gulf and Iraq, Kosovo, Afghanistan and other smaller expeditionary campaigns, as well as occupation duty, qualify." Some commenters say that several people who are registered at the VFW do not meet this criteria. Do any of our readers know for sure?)

He is indeed a veteran of a foreign war. He was in a bar fight at the old zumdido in Matamoros, Mexico.
It looks like Richard Wise.
Yes there some that never left the states, just look at their Honor Guard
The VFW is a great organization that has helped veterans for many years. Sadly our local post has become a haven for wannabes. It's a slap in the face to those who actually fought and left friends behind. It's also a reason why a lot of them don't go there anymore!!!
Some vets collecting disability benefits when they were way in the rear with the gear ,no fking mames
