SHOULD PAXTON STAY OR SHOULD HE GO? PALS, FOES SPEAK

By Brandi Grissom
Dallas Morning News

bgrissom@dallasnews.comAfter Attorney General Ken Paxton was booked into and bonded out of the Collin County Jail, Republican friends of the former legislator urged caution in judging what they see as a political prosecution.
Here’s a sampling of what both sides are saying:

“I trust that our nation’s legal system will proceed fairly and appropriately to investigate allegations of criminal violations against Attorney General Paxton. It is important both for the people of Texas and for General Paxton that he be treated fairly and in accordance with the law.”
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas

“Paxton is an admitted lawbreaker. Now he needs to spare Texas the embarrassment of a drawn-out legal fight. ... It is time for Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton to resign. It is time to restore the public trust. It is time for a Republican to finally act responsibly.”
Gilberto Hinojosa, Texas Democratic Party chairman

“Practically speaking, the Texas AG’s office is already vacant. Ken Paxton isn’t fighting for his political life, he’s fighting to avoid spending life behind bars. He won’t have time to do anything else.”
Matt Angle, founder of the Lone Star Project, a Democratic political action committee
“Everyone is entitled to due process under the law. As a former judge, I recognize this is the first step in a lengthy process and will respect that process as it moves forward.”
— Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican

“Some of the outrageous events surrounding this sloppy process certainly do not typify the level of quality that Texans expect from our judicial system. Since being overwhelmingly elected by the voters of Texas, General Paxton has helped lock up child predators, investigated the odious acts of Planned Parenthood, relentlessly pushed back against an overreaching federal government, and we expect him to fight these allegations with that same zeal.”
— Aaron Whitehead, spokesman for the Republican Party of Texas

“Under our Constitution, every person is innocent until proven guilty. I am confident our judicial system will weigh all the facts and applicable law with a blind eye for justice, and Ken Paxton, like anyone else, will be afforded his day in court.”
— Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, a Republican
“There is a long way between an indictment and a conviction. We have a good legal system here in Collin County, and we will see how it proceeds.”

— Collin County Judge Keith Self, a Republican

Gilberto Hinojosa has some nerve calling for Paxon to step down. If there ever was a more corrupt politician that has not been put in jail it is Gilberto Hinojosa. Gilberto is part of all the Cameron County politicos that have gone to the slammer. He was Able Limas' close friend. He is Conrado Cantu's compadre. He was a mentor to Armando Villalobos. You are trying to tell me that he did nothing with these gentlemen I mentioned to warrant him to joi9n them in jail. You are the last one to be asking for people to resign sir. No tienes verguenza Gilberto.

It couldn't happen to a nice crooked AG. Throw the bum out in the streets so he can make a living selling snake oil.

Gilbert Hinojosa is a proud Tejano. He is flying the Flag of The Reconquista! Juan Montoya is too-Mexican to go against his own people.

Didn't Texas belong to old Mexico until the U.S. took it away ?

No you fools. We stole it from crooked corrupt politicians drug dealers.

Paxton is getting a taste of his own medicine. He will plead "innocence" since he committed his crap in a foreign country, he didn't do shit in the U.S.

The dumb fart will plead insanity and blame the T-Party for misleading him .

Gilberto is the same like Richard M Nixon, he is not a crook, he is a finger hut that's why he is not in jail folks-es un dedo. Come on folks you all have not figured it out by now? Why do you think he is not in prison with our gang? Because he spilled the beans on everyone else, made a secret deal and walked away to save his hide. Right Gilly and now walks around like he is big Shinola, as the grand duke of the Democrat party in Texas. By the way Gilberto do you still have that bad habit with the nose candy or ya no? Orale Charlie.
