BROWNSVILLE — The Labor
Department is considering to fine a bowling alley more than $50,000
after one of its workers was strangled to death when his shirt collar
became tangled in a pinsetter, officials announced Wednesday.
Vidal Garcia,
29, had worked at the Galaxy Bowling Center for about four months as a
maintenance worker before the March accident. An inspection by the U.S.
Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration
discovered that the machine’s rotating shafts were not covered and did
not shut down properly. The agency issued 10 “serious” safety violations
Wednesday and said the machines lacked safety mechanisms, according to a
news release.
“Galaxy
Bowling knew the pinsetter had problems, yet employers allowed him to
crawl into the machine while it was on to fix it,” Michele Shield,
OSHA’s director in Corpus Christi, said in the release.
The company employs about 40 workers and has 15 business days to comply and remedy the safety violations.
The alley’s manager on duty declined to comment for this story when reached by phone Wednesday afternoon.

You should call the Doctors that own it (Dr. Gerardo Sanchez, and Dr. Jose De Luna), Neonatologists in Brownsville. Always cutting corners as Doctors usually do.
