As many as 500 City of Brownsville employees who attended the annual Christmas party were again shafted by at least three commissioners.
The event was held at the Brownsville Events Center on Paredes Line Road.
The gathering was moderated by city manager Charlie Cabler instead of Da Mayor.
Gowen, who many thought may have been attending a CycloBia in Austin, did not attend. Neither did District b1 commissioner Ricardo Longoria. Many present thought that he might have been too busy on a DJ gig to attend, just as he was busy during the first vote that approved the new city's "rebranding" logo that was later discarded.
"The Mayor seems to be more interested in hosting events lime Mr. Amigo and Carlos Marin's Bi-Ned scheme to take interest in the city's workforce," said a city worker. "It would be nice if he attended one of the functions of the working people."
