GLASS PALACE INTRIGUE: PENA OUT, LORENZO SANCHEZ CFO

The best lack all conviction, while the worst

Are full of passionate intensity.
From: Brownsville Independent School District Jan. 12 (Tuesday) agenda:
A-1. Recommend approval of the following General Function Item: 40. Discussion, consideration and possible action regarding Re-organization of Brownsville Independent School District Board of Trustee Officers. (Board Member Request)
(Ed.'s Note: This is the way the item is listed on the agenda. However, we have since learned that following board procedure, it takes one board member and two other trustees to sign on to place an item on the agenda. In this case, we hear that it was placed there by trustee Joe Rodriguez and that trustees Cesar Lopez and Carlos Elizondo signed on to Rodriguez's placing it on the agenda.)

14. Recommend Lorenzo Sanchez as Interim Chief Financial Officer pending the appointment of a permanent Chief Financial Officer for Brownsville Independent School District. Salary to be determined based on approved compensation plan to be pro-rated to days remaining in the 2015-2016 school year.

By Juan Montoya
Well, as Charlie Chan used to say, the pearl is in the river.
Those two items on the BISD trustees ' agenda indicate that the long-rumored power shift is on for real this time.
Minnie Peña, who believed the siren song by the board majority headed by trustee Joe "Coach" Rodriguez, that she would reign as district queen turned out to be a ruse to get her to go along with their plans.
Now, after having served them well, she will be put out to pasture after enjoying her time in the limelight. Until January 12, enjoy the gavel while you can.
The agenda merely states that the item was placed by "a board member." Mmm. We wonder who that could have been?
And Rodriguez favorite and protege Lorenzo Sanchez will now assume the role of interim Chief Financial Officer after he was hied on as a "consultant" to assist former CFO Lucio Mendoza, since exiled to the hairnet crowd at Food Service. Sanchez was tagged after he was released from his duties as Raymondville ISD helper to superintendent Johnny Pineda. Pineda, by the way, is also ma former BISD super who went out to the bush league after his stint in Brownsville.
Since Mendoza – who was brought here from Mission ISD where he was the CFO – was not demoted but merely transferred, we assume now that the distinct is paying for two CFOs. How that can be justified is beyond us. Yet, given their sorry record of not fulfilling promises made – as when the board promised to do a nationwide search for superintendent and giving the public voice on the matter – this will also go through without anyone making as much as a peep.

Can anyone explain how this board shuffle benefits the students and employees of BISD? How about it Joe? These assholes prove over and over that their time on the board is 100% about their own personal agendas/glorification.

As for Johnny Pineda heading to Raymondville, he's the smart one. He hasn't had to put up with the threatening atmosphere and continual nonsense that is part of everyday life at BISD.

The board officers mean nothing. They just think they have power.
