While applauding the Mexican government's capture of fugitive Sinaloa cartel boss Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela Jr. is urging Mexican officials to capture and extradite 13 other fugitives, including former Tamaulipas governors, Tomás Yarrington Ruvalcaba and Eugenio Hernández Flores.
"I congratulate Mexico for its work in recapturing the drug traficker Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman," Vela said. Now that he has been captured, we should work together to guarantee his rapid extradition to the U.S. so he can face his charges and face justice."
He said that the extradition process should be short to show that Mexico has real intentions of fighting drug trafficking and organized crime.
“The capture of this convicted criminal serves as an important reminder that the U.S. should also ask for the extradition of other persons who face criminal charges here, including the former Tamaulipas governors Tomás Yarrington Ruvalcaba y Eugenio Hernández Flores”, he said.
He said that the fact that the two former governors are still free is an insult to the dispensation of justice and the personnel of the U.S. Dept. of Justice who have labored over the years to build criminal cases against them for their nexus to the drug cartels.
Yarrington has been indicted for money laundering and his links to organized crime while Hernandez Flores is facing indictments for bank fraud and money laundering.

Congressman Vela is a fool, and a hypocrit.Why isn't he calling for his friend , the Matamoros Mayor, to be arrested and extradited for the murder of the 3 U.S.citizens? He's a fool that is being played by the Matamoros cartel and the United Brownsville cartel here.
Kind of curious when Filemon Vela is going to bring jobs to the valley that he promised. Instead of worrying about hoodlums, he ought to be looking for companies to settle in the valley and create jobs. Let law enforcement do it's job.
