READ BETWEEN THE LINES OF OLIVEIRA'S EDUCATION AD

"A Proven Leader Fighting Against Discrimination in School Funding"
Really?
Each year the Port Isabel ISD has to send about $17 million in property tax and inventory receipts to the State's Comptroller's Office because the money it gets from the Port of Brownsville and South Padre Island make it a "property-rich" school district that has to contribute to the Robin Hood plan with poorer districts. One of those "poor" districts is the Brownsville Independent School District.
Question? Why hasn't our "proven leader" in school funding discrimination filed legislation to bring both these district together and alter their boundaries to keep those $17 million here instead of filtering them through the state? If the two school districts split the proceeds from the Port of Brownsville (Amfels, Transmontaigne, the shipbreakers, the shrimp basin, now the LNGs, etc) by crunching the numbers to offset losses to one and gains to the other, all our money could possibly stay here and not go off to the Austin gang. The Port Isabel ISD has one student way out by Boca Chica that it send a bus to when his mother (who works at SPI) can't take him to school with her.
Most of the workers at the industries at the port live in Brownsville or Matamoros. Most of the children of the workers go to Brownsville schools. The congestion in traffic and noise pollution is borne by Brownsville residents, who are exposed daily to the danger of 18-wheeler traffic rumbling past churches, housing projects, schools, neighborhoods, etc., carrying hazardous materials and flammable liquids and chemicals. The East Loop is years away from completion despite the periodic posturing in the press by city, county and port officials.
If after 30 years in office Oliveira and his buddy Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. still can't overcome their "learning curve" to figure out how to fight "discrimination" in school funding in their own backyard, what are another few years going to teach them nthey haven't had the capacity to learn already? Or perhaps they don't want to make anyone mad and continue allowing this depravity to continue while Eddie dons those ridiculous golfing knickers and smooches up to the Republican governors amd Rene concentrates on ogling at the babes and single-handedly putting a dent on Joe Kenny's supply of booze at Cobbleheads?

"Authored and Sponsored Creation of New UTRGV and Medical School"
Rene also co-authored (with Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr.) the infamous "partnership" between UT-Brownsville and the Texas Southmost College in 1991 instead of pressuring the State of Texas to build a stand-alone university. This jerry-rigged piecemeal concoction allowed the UT System to gouge local property tax payers of the community college district who had to shoulder the load of issuing $100s millions in bond debt to subsidize the oil-and-gas wealthy university system. Rene and Lucio stood by willingly and allowed the poorest community in the United States to pay for the honor of having the UT occupying its buildings. Over the years under the agreement, TSC had to "transfer" approximately $55 million to UTB each year. Over the 21 years the partnership existed, an estimated $1 billion was taken from the community college and transferred to UTB.
Oliveira and Lucio were ready to submit a bill crafted by former UTB president Julieta Garcia that would have transferred all of the assets of TSC to UTB, except for the bond debt. The community college district would disappear once the taxpayers paid the final bond bill and UTB would have a campus for free.
Only the resolve of a new TSC board prevented the pan from being carried out. Faced with this rejection by the community college, the UT System had no other alternative but to shoulder its constitutional responsibilities and to forge a plan to provide higher education opportunities to all Texas residents. That included giving the different campuses a share of the fabulously wealthy Permanent University Fund. In contrast, when the UJT System balked at giving predominantly-black Prairie View A and M PUF funds, they initiated a complaint with the U.S, Department of Civil Rights and the UT System flinched. The black community there was not going to accept crumbs for their community as Lucio and Oliveira did.
Now, after overseeing the two-decade long rape of local TSC taxpayers, Oliveira has the gall to take credit for the new UTRGV?
In this year's Democratic Party Primary, it's HABLO (Hell, Anybody But Lucio or Oliveira)

But make the voters understand that. He'll juan it if it wasn't for you and some the other blogs none of this blanton corruption would be exposed. It's was in the blogs first when the talk about Yzaguirre being investigated two years before it happen. Will the voters of the county send a strong message to the incumbents this election,or just turn a blind eye. It's the politiqueras and politiqueras being paid that will determine this election once again

Juan, its the Democrat Party, not Democratic Party. There is nothing democratic about it as evidenced by the distribution of its delegates in the New Hampshire primary.

The Lucios and Oliveira are a cancer like plague that has affected our region for nearly two decades. Ask yourself why our region is 20 years behind what we should be! The answer is because these power hungry cunniving opportunists only serve themselves instead of you.

OLIVEIRA AND LUCIO NO DOUBT HAVE BEEN TOO LONG IN THE GAME.

BUT LOOK AT THE ALTERNATIVES:

DR. OSBERT "OZZY" RODRIGUEZ HARO? HE HIDES HIS REAL LAST NAME AND USES HIS MATERNAL NAME? WHY? LOOK UP HIS CRIMINAL RECORD TO FIND OUT. THEN TELL ME YOU WANT THAT GUY TO BE YOUR SENATOR.

DONALD DE LEON? SERIOUSLY? DON WOULD HAVE A CHANCE AT WINNING ANY RACE. HE'S A SWELL GUY. BUT THE COMPANY HE KEEPS IS WHAT DOESN'T ALLOW HIM TO COMPETE.

NOW, SERIOUS QUESTION:

IS BROWNSVILLE READY TO LET THESE TWO REPRESENT YOU IN AUSTIN? IF YOU SAY YES, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

Thank you for walking us through your personal views. Sometimes your vote must be AGAINST a candidate and not necessarily FOR an opponent. Welcome to HABLO. Even if I'm unsure a new candidate will do a great job, I'm trusting they will at the very least be representing my interests.
