A funny thing happened on the way to a port election.
And most of the comedy revolves around the candidacy of Texas Southmost College Trustee Ed Rivera.
Rivera – like Kiko Rendon – chose not to run for his position on the TSC board. Instead, with the support of the OP.1033 group and United Brownsville, Rivera first signed up to run for the Port of Brownsville election and filed against John Reed.
When the Powers-That-Be found out he had filed against Reed, someone whispered a few choice words in his ear and he promptly returned to the port and switched positions, filing against trustee Tito Lopez.
That position is being contested by Elliot Anderson, a Los Fresnos resident who is a vehement anti-LNG critic and doesn't want the terminals constructed at the port at all.
But Rivera's candidacy raises some serious questions about his eligibility to run for that position since when he ran for the TSC board, he listed his address in Port Isabel.
In fact, his bio in the TSC website states that: "At present he is a board member of The University of Texas-Pan American Foundation; Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts; South Padre Island Golf Course Home Owners Association, The Harbor; RGV Lead Advisory Board; and Hooked for Life Advisory Board. Mr. Rivera has two daughters and resides in Laguna Vista, TX."
TSC board members must reside in the district and Laguna Vista falls outside. It falls within the Port Isabel Navigation District.
In fact, we are told that Rivera lists his Laguna Vista address in his voter registration card.
He is said to have listed the address of a girl friend on his candidate application to the Port of Brownsville board.
So how can it be that Rivera can suddenly switch his place of residency to run for the port?
We also understand that he can expect a strong challenge to his candidacy from the incumbent and his supporters.
Which brings up an interesting question: Does the OP.1033 and United Brownsville endorse this kind of candidacy where there are serious questions about the legality of Rivera running for a district where he doesn't live?

Rivera Is a worthless man. He will always be somebody's puppet. His price, Tell him he is great, he is important, He has Delusions of Grandeur. This guy wanted to be appointed County Judge.

You think his girlfriend knows he used her address to file for Port Commissioner? Its going to cost him maybe more than a expensive purse. He also complains about how much money he gives her to support her good style.
This poor idiot is a disgrace. He wants to fit in with the people in power and is played like a fiddle. Ed is an old ( literally ) social climber that want to be relevant at whatever price.
He lives in Laguna Vista everyone knows that ask the Mayor, ask his neighbors. This guy believes his own lies. He is pathetic. How can his girlfriend stand him. She is beautiful and nice. I guess love is blind.
Cindy did he even ask for permission to use your address?
I would think that all someone would need to do is go to the Cameron County Appraisal district and look up his properties. They will list his mailing address.
Of course United Brownsville endorses that aort of shit. They are made from that kind of shit, consist of pieces of shit who surround themselves with more shit and occationally try to float a turdlet.
What if they held an Ed Rivera rally and nobody cared?
TITO LOPEZ ALL THE WAY. SORRY ED. JUST ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO TAKE OVER ANOTHR SEAT AFTER YOU KNEW YOU WOULD LOSE THE OTHER.
