I went to Central 11 years later. In 1974 if you were not with the "in" group, you were considered a nobody. I guess she didn't have that problem in 1963.

Of course, among the Anglo majority she wasn't "Julieta", she was "Julie". She and Frederico "Freddy" Pena, wanted to be in the "in" group.....so they were "anglophiles" before they were "Hispanic". Julie goes with the flow. Its all about Julie....

This was when Anglos still sent their kids to BISD. Those days are long gone and you can't find an Anglo in the system with a bloodhound. The Mexican have taken everything over and that is not for the better.

Sheeit...many Mexicans down here go by Anglo versions of their names. That is until they run for public office, then they become Mexican even if they have to use a hyphen to do it.

Juanito, I remember from my younger days in the 70's el Teatro del la raza had a skit on one time, and one of the main characters said en este mundo hay dos tipo de personas el que chinga y el chingado. So im sure Julie heard that one and went on to became a famous and most likeable person in Brownsville.
