(Ed.'s Note: Those present at the Gus Ruiz swearing-in to replace county judge candidate, and his predecessor, commissioner Dan Sanchez couldn't help but be amused at the antics of the new guy. After actively campaigning for Sanchez and encouraging those present to support the portly commish, Ruiz falt-out said that Sanchez had allowed his precinct to be "ignored" by Cameron County. Does he not remember that Dan Sanchez has been commissioner there for the better part of five years? He was probably speaking for others because the road in front of his house was recently paved by Sanchez when other county roads with more than one house on it were bypassed. Ruiz has other ties with Sanchez. He is the public defender in David Sanchez's 444th District Veterans Court. In the graphic above, Dan Sanchez (large guy with the black beard) can be seen in the rear with clean-shaven Gus on the immediate left. Precinct 4 has surely been ignored because Dan "Sasquatch" Sanchez has been too busy promoting himself, not his constituency. Dan's career in politics is to serve himself, not the voters of Cameron County.
