PEEKABOO VICTOR: LUIS, IS IT SAFE TO COME OUT NOW?

By Juan Montoya
Whether you are of the opinion that former Indian Lake Police Chief was railroaded and unjustly left out of the runoff ballot for the Republican Party's nomination for Cameron County Sheriff or not, the role that his opponent for the post has played in the affair rankles many people.
If the Supreme Court does not go along with Chambers' writ to order the Cameron County Elections Office place his name on the ballot for the runoff, he will be replaced by Robert Rodrigues, one of the four candidates who ran for the position.
Rodriguez will face off against Victor Cortez, a former DEA agent and former chief of the Cameron County District Attorney's Public Integrity Unit. That's Victor with the white hat peeking out from behind the door (and a cop's shoulder) during the raid on former mayor Pat Ahumada's "sweepstakes" salon.
Chambers has complained that Cortez set him up by initiating various operations to get him indicted at the time he was in the DA's Office. Once he became a candidate for the position, those efforts materialized as indictments by a grand jury for tampering with government documents.
That vague phrase refers to firearm certification forms that have to be turned in to the state. The forms were actually filled by Chambers' assistant chief and compadre Alfredo Avalos. Chambers didn't know that Avalos, who he invited to join him and his daughter on an ocean cruise before his daughter's wedding, was actually working with Cortez and was wearing a wire to gather enough evidence to get a grand jury indictment.
It has long been known that Avalos coveted Chambers' job as chief so it worked out well for both Cortez and him to push Chambers aside.
He was convicted during a trial which saw Cortez in mid-campaign huddling with investigators and prosecutors in the hallways during Chambers' trial. The conviction came a month before the start of early voting in the primary.
That's him in the white cap kneeling besides George Delaney, a lead investigator in the case and also a former DEA agent like Cortez.
Unfortunately, the voters in the Republican primary did not seem to play the role of revulsion that the other candidates had thought would happen.
Despite the convictions, they gave Chambers 3,395 votes, Cortez 2,662, Rodriguez, 2,365 and Michael Watkins 2,182.
If the Texas Supreme Court decides that Chambers gets to stay on the ballot, he will face Cortez, who will have to make up the 733 votes.
If not, then Cortez will face Rodriguez, who finished behind Chambers by 1,030.
It is obvious which candidates the Republican voters wanted in this election despite the winner being convicted a month before the election. We're not talking about Democrats here. We're talking about voters who felt that the way in which Chambers was indicted and convicted smacked of an underhanded way for Cortez to advance his candidacy.

Chambers has a dirty group working for him. It looks like the drug dealers are financing his campaign and he has the money to buy whatever they want. If you look at who is yelling the loudest about Chambers coming off the ballot you will se that they are some of the dirty democrats.

You LIE! If this were true COME OUT PUBLICLY and say so and who you are! Chambers is a good man and YOU know this.

Que triste es ver un cobarde hablar mal del Sr Chambers. Que Dios lo cuide de gente ridicula y llena de mierda.

The Supreme Court denied his requests. And Chambers is no victim- ask the people he arrested without warrants who were afraid in their own homes for years.

All Victor Cortez ever posts is stuff that happened so long ago the paper is yellow that the story is printed on.. And then hundreds of times he says "I am the only Viet Nam veteran". No kidding he is the only OLD enough to have served back in those days. And that is exactly what the County needs to rid itself of these days. Need some younger blood and from someone who has recent accomplishments or at least withing the last (5) years of so and not 100 years ago.

Of course people are going to vote for you if you lie and manipulate the truth for votes and money. And the truth shall set you free in this case free from the run off

Bobby Wightman won't publish this because it exposes his infamous hypocrisy and bullying and irresponsible actions as a writer for what they are. He was sent this:

Bobby, don't bother with being falsely righteous at this point. She did what was right and legal and with legal precedent and judicial opinions upholding the exact same action in multiple courts of appeals in this state. You hammered her for days and name called her. You said she hated the law and was denying Chambers his right to file a writ yet the opposite statement was said by her in a public statement. You and he both were relentless and then you both criticized her for defending herself when her name as a private citizen was attacked. You were a large part of whatever division there might be because you were taking everything Chambers gave you (he is open about the collusion) and going after her and with bias. He bragged about having you wrapped around his finger.

Now that somebody else has chosen to harass her using this great tool called the Internet after Chambers published her address on Facebook, which has been documented and preserved- you call it wrong but defend Chambers saying it didn't happening and echoing his lie. Harassment isn't right when you did it either.

The woman did her job and what the law said she had to with what she was given and you called her a twit and demanded she lose her job. You claimed she hated the law- prove it. Where did she say that? The woman has consistently stated her utmost concern was making sure the act was legal before proceeding.

You owe Morgan Graham an apology.

Well thank you for sharing your BS story with the public. The only lowlife is YOU by talking ANONYMOUSLY about a man and a GOOD MAN at that behind his back. Why don't YOU get over it and go to the bathroom because you ARE FULL OF IT.

Mr Chambers finances HIMSELF no one gives him a cent. You don't know squat. You must be talking about others.

Holy shit you are right.

With all due respect to the honorable Morgan Graham, he doesn't owe anyone a thing. This is politics not THERAPY. She doesn't need it either. She's shown how strong she is and she can handle herself exceedingly well. These two would make a great team if they put their differences aside. That's my opinion. Two great people on different sides unfortunately. But neither deserve disrespect because when it's time to get busy BOTH do a hell of a job fighting to prove their themselves and that my friends IS POLITICS!

The Chambers family stood against corruption when Gilbert Hinojosa tried to change the votes in the wood recount. His wife was on the news because Hinojosa grabbed her arm when she refused to change Republican votes to Democrat. It takes integrity to stand up to the machine.

Chambers is again standing up to the machine, the corrupt compadrismo machine that would have a "public integrity unit" conspire to undermine a man's candidacy, then illegally strike his name off the ballot to help a Democrat compadre posing as a Republican. The conduct of this race to me, from the conspiracy to convict someone for political purposes, to the apparent collusion between the Democrat and Republican chairs, all the way to getting a frontrunning candidate's name illegally erased from the ballot before a final conviction, is the most disturbing thing I have seen in years.

I'm not close to anyone. I support our justice system which is higher than any party. I in all honesty am supporting Omar Lucio but the truth is the truth. No one on either side deserves lies being spread. What you are saying is a lie and I don't have to be a part of his family to know that. You however seem to have some sort of grudge against him. You are either a troll for the opposition, a disgruntled ex employee or someone who doesn't know a thing he/she is saying. The truth does not blind lies such as yours does.

It is not a matter of Republican or Democrat. It's a matter of the actual person. Mr. Chambers lied to the voters and took their donations. He should do the moral thing and admit. That he is the one that lived in fear that one day he would get caught and convicted.
The only fear I have is a person like him not democratic or republican taking office, lying to his voters.
I have to admit that Mr. Cortez saw an opportunity and jumped at the chance to rid himself of at least one candidate. If your gonna fight fight fair, if your gonna win win fair, and if your gonna lose
Pues te chingas te
Thanks run run for actually posting my stuff pinche voice never does maybe he is a chambers groupie and a health care provider for Lucio or just in love with the wonderful Morgan who knows

Bullshit. She isn't colluding with the Democrats. And his ass was never legally on the ballot. The law was on her side. You guys just dmcant handle that the Supreme Court, the state party, the Secretary of State, and most people agree that a convicted feeling shouldn't be on the ballot.

You keep saying she did it illegally- prove it. Why didn't the Supreme Court slap it down? Why couldn't the "ten" lawyers John claimed to have get this fixed? You are starting to believe your farts really smell like roses.

Anonymous said...

You mean "14 felony convictions by a jury". This "final conviction" bullshit is what Chambers is feeding people. If a pedophile is appealing his conviction does that mean he has a right to work with children? The law keeps felons from getting a badge and a gun as a sheriff for a reason and if he couldn't handle being a police chief of a trailer park without being dishonest and getting caught ON VIDEO break the law he doesn't belong in office.
