For as long as one can remember Rosatrio (Rosie) Peña has been the head of the Purchasing Dept. at the Brownsville Independent School District.
Now, in the suddenly -popular game of Musical Chairs that has gained the vogue there after the new board majority picked Esperanza Zendejas as the new superintendent, that has changed.
We now hear that the once powerful BISD Chancellor of the Exchequer of the Glass Palace, Peña has now been relegated to the Hair-Net Set at Flapjack Canyon, or Food and Nutrition Service.
To the uninitiated this may seem like a vertical transfer, but to those in the know of the BISD bureaucratic morass, this means that an unequivocal message has been sent to the luckless individual that they might consider another line of work.
It happened to Art Rendon after he was successful in suing the BISD and was reinstated at the district. He was assigned to the Transportation Dept., and then reassigned again to the dreaded FNS black hole.
For example, following the scandal of former CFO Lucio Mendoza after he signed off on a $1.3 million check to an insurance company before the trustees approve the payment and continuance of the coverage, Mendoza was also sent to the FNS, and then later, to the BISD records warehouse within smell of the Robindale Wastewater treatment plant as a Special Assignment Administrator.
We now have reports that Mendoza has been suspended with pay by the Zendejas administration as well.
With all that musical-chair frenzy going on, people at the BISD are getting stiff necks wondering whether Zendejas and her majority on the board will decide whether they will be the next one to walk the gauntlet toward the FNS.

Another one bites the dust....
Long overdue. Pena needed to go.
I remember her on TV always playing dumb
Insurance gate?
About time, Catalina your support team is gone and you are next coming election time. We are going to send you back Chicago with all your frivolous lawsuits.
Actually the Robindale Wastewater Plant smells sweet compared to the food service area of BISD.
Morale is non-existan, the leadership is by threat and intimidation. Cudos to Hammes and Alegria for informing their people and speaking out. AOBE, where are you? If the organizations were politically organized, they could name their board and leadership. This is a big fear for the ISD but fat chance of that.
Hammes has no clout with Administration, the Board or for that matter any teacher organization. It's painful to watch him stutter his half baked ass kissing diatribes while he pats himself on the back and blames everyone else for the lack of unity.
AOBE staffers especially the treasurer are too busy partying with Joe"EL CIRUELO" Rodriguez?
