RIVERA, VILLANUEVA PLOY: A CHICKEN LEG QUARTER A VOTE

By Juan Montoya
Their polls must be telling them that they are lagging behind their opponents.
Otherwise, why would door-to-door paid campaign workers be out today, the last day of voting, trying to entice those who didn't cast an early vote in the Brownsville Navigation District and Texas Southmost College elections on behalf of Ed Rivera and Raul Villanueva, the front men for Mike Hernandez III's OP 10.33 bid to take over the Port of Brownsville?
They have already spent at least $100,000 of their boss' money to unseat incumbents Tito Lopez and Ralph Cowen calling them "detrimental" to economic development even after the port posted three record-breaking years as a national Free trade Zone and a banner year in cargo value under their leadership.
But Hernandez, Rivera and Villanueva have a new wrinkle on the usual chicken BBQ plates in return for voting. They say in their door flier that if you show the "I Voted" sticker handed out during early voting, they will give you a free chicken BBQ plate at the OP headquarters on Boca Chica.
There's only one catch, when you vote today – Election day – you do not get a sticker for you to paste on your lapel. Neither do you get a notation on your card that you voted on your voting card. So how do you prove you voted?
Those are just given and notated during early voting, not on election day.
"They are misleading the voters and hoping to get them to cast their votes for Rivera and Villanueva with the lure of a free chicken plate," said a resident who found the propaganda at his door. "That's even worse than the politiqueras and politiqueros hauling in hungry seniors to vote."
It's a kind of poetic justice that Rivera, since his address is listed at 22 Harbor Town in Laguna Vista, cannot vote for himself or for his sidekick Villanueva since that is outside the district. After he had filed for the position at the board of commissioners, he went ot the Cameron County Elections Office and got a new one. The address on te new card? Would you believe 22 Harbor Town, Laguna Vista?
Hernandez, his OP 10.33 jobs developer Carlos Marin, and his Army of V Corps cast themselves as paragons of virtue and values who maintain  a high degree of integrity and eschew corruption and deviousness. But this last, desperate ploy to entice hungry people to trade their vote for a chicken leg quarter is worse than the biblical Esau trading his birthright for a passel of lentils.
Their slogan should be: "Su voto no es su voz. Su voto es un plato de pollo."

Brownsville's 21st Century Dilemma

Today, Voters can either join the growing ranks of young hispanic professionals, who are on a mission to disinfect local politics of all anglos; or

Voters can turn back the Dallas Carpetbaggers, and their local minions, who are about to sink their blood-sucking proboscis into the local taxpayers.

If only there was a way to decide... to serve the higher good....

How about this:

FREE CHICKEN ! ! !
(Even poultry deserve liberation)

I don't think the dumb fucks know that no proof of voting is furnished today. The just gather around the kool-aide bucket and drink toasts to Ambiotec's "vision" for Brownsville. FUCK THOSE PEOPLE!

The Rivera/Villanueva/Pineda operatives were passing out their political push-cards at the 77 Flea Market. I wonder why they were all bundled together as if they knew each other and were pushing the same political agenda.
