WHO REALLY SAID WHAT ON WEST LOOP TOLL ROAD PLANS: IN THEIR OWN WORDS,TREVINO, HINOJOSA, SEPULVEDA

(Ed.'s Note: During a recent Brownsville Town Hall meeting on whether to build a hike and bike trail or construct a road (toll?) it seemed that all the public officials and candidates for public office were stumbling over each other to appease the vocal supporters of the hike-and-bike idea. Suddenly, it seemed everyone was trying to outdo each other to get into their good graces. We were guided to the minutes of the April 27, 2006 Texas Department of Transportation Commission meeting where former City of Brownsville Mayor Eddie Treviño, former Cameron County Judge Gilberto Hinojosa and Pete Sepulveda, then executive director of the Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority-county administrator and now county judge really said about their ideas for using the eight-mile abandoned Union Pacific right-of-way that was turned over to the county. The views of the state were also voiced by Mario Jorge, the TxDOT regional administrator. During the Town Hall meeting, Treviños' supporters accused his opponent to the county judge's race, former Pct. 4 commissioner Dan Sanchez, of favoring a toll road over a hike and bike trail, a charge Sanchez publicly denied and called a "lie." Here, from their own lips, is where they really stand on the issue.)

Minutes of the Commission April 27, 2006:

Mayor Eddie Trevino:

"You're going to hear from my good friend, Judge Gilberto Hinojosa, and others who will comment on the city and county plans regarding our West Rail Relocation project which is an international project regarding the relocation of the rails from both Brownsville and Matamoros, allowing for better economic development and less congestion, better environmental issues, and obviously the most important issue I think that's going to be addressed today, the vision of the Cameron County RMA. We're pleased and honored to be a partner with them.
We're entering a time and period of immense potential, but as I like to tell the citizens of Brownsville, especially the children, while potential is nice, progress is even better. With your help I am confident that we will be able to meet these challenges and build the needed trade corridors and our transportation infrastructure."

Cameron County Gilberto Hinojosa:

"There's a lot of challenges that we have for the future, however, that we are in the process of undertaking today on a regional approach in cooperation with your offices. First I want to talk just briefly or give you a quick overview of our countywide railroad relocation project.
Now, Cameron County probably has the most advanced railroad relocation project, if not in the United States, in the state of Texas. We are in the final stages of our West Rail Relocation project here in Brownsville where we're going to move all rail lines about six miles to the west, build a new international bridge for the rail, and eliminate at-grade crossings that would have cost the state of Texas somewhere upward of $60 million...

"We're also looking at a west loop, through the regional mobility authority, around the city of Brownsville, another road that may be financed through tolls."

Mario Jorge, TxDOT Regional Engineer:

"This is the B&M Bridge which is a combination rail/vehicular bridge operating in downtown Brownsville. It currently carries an average of 200,000 northbound passenger vehicles per month. Of course, the West Rail Relocation project will construct a new rail bridge west of the city and allow this bridge to be used exclusively for vehicular traffic. And it also happens to be the termini for the West Loop project which is one of the projects being proposed by the RMA and you will hear about that later in the program.

"In the Brownsville area, a couple of projects that I want to mention here that the RMA is going to be performing, and we'll hear more about these later. The West Rail which is essentially tied into the rail relocation is already done and goes west and then south to the new international bridge on the west side of Brownsville; FM 511 which I mentioned earlier as a future controlled access facility into the port and east side of Brownsville; the East Loop which I also mentioned earlier as a relief route to the east side of Brownsville; and the West Loop which is also on the agenda today which involves the obtainment of the abandoned railroad right of way once the West Rail project is in place and development of a toll road corridor from 77/83 into the B&M Bridge."

Former County Administrator and current Cameron County Judge and CCRMA CEO Pete Sepulveda:

"This is some of the projects that we're working on. The first project is the West Loop project. The West Loop project is about an eight-mile stretch of road that will add about a 40,000 vehicle a day capacity to the city of Brownsville in an area that desperately needs access. A byproduct of this project is the West Rail Relocation project where we will relocate the existing main through-line of Union Pacific away from the downtown area in Brownsville and Matamoros and locate it to a more rural area in the city of Brownsville..."

"We've got nine different pass-through toll projects within the county: we've got two or three in Brownsville, one or two in the Harlingen-San Benito area, we've got a project in the La Feria area. The next project is the West Loop project study area. That project will occur when the project is environmentally cleared and the rail is relocated."

Marin's company, for nothing with the help of your other buddy Eddie Treviño. We actually know the more than a million dollars lost at United Brownsville in exchange for nothing because of Carlos Marin and Eddie Treviño. So when you say you have confidence in Carlos Marin you are telling us you have confidence Carlos Marin can help you in your own scams.

Eddie Trevino has proven he is with Carlos Marin, the gift of almost one million dollars for the worthless imagine Brownsville is proof of that.

Eddie Trevino has also proven that he is for Eddie. Let us not forget he backed the proposition elections in which he was seeking a one hundred thousand dollar salary for his position. that, along with the illegal benefits he was taking from the city when he was Mayor.....and let us not forget also that he was a law partner with Gilberto Hinojosa and Juan Magallanes. Magallanes' brother is the one putting up all the signs up for Eddie Trevino. Hinojosa was always for Hinojosa like his old partner....and no doubt will have full access of the County Judges position.

Eddie Trevino also proposed to sell PUB while he was Mayor....the same PUB that his law firm represents to this day....talk about coincidence! ....and last but not least, there is Carlos Marin and his new buddy Mike Hernandez...they have proved that they are In it to make a buck of the tax coffers as well. we can not give Marin, Mike Hernandez, and Gilbert Hinojosa the county judge's office.....we just cant afford it!

Gilberto Hinojosa is the father of the West Loop project, and his former law partner and still very good freind Eddie Treviño backed his brain child when he was Mayor. All of a sudden there is an election and they say they ar against the project they were pushing?! How ingenious of the dynamic duo of dumb. Even Gilbert Hinojosa's wife is seen at all rally's with pins that show she is against a project that was being supported by her hubby and his minute freind Treviño. Treviño has even said that if in the future there is a need for the west loop, he would support it......guess what, if elected he will support it again. Road projects are millions of dollars for someone, and Hinojosa and Eddie Treviño are all about the money.

Eddie and Marine were not content with what they were able to skim off the taxpayors so they brought in Mike Hernandez lll to take control fo the Port, TSC, then the BISD, and the County in November so they could control the contracts in order to skim more! Such dirty rotten guys!

Why do the voters not understand that a vote for Eddie Trevino equals a vote for Gilberto Hinojosa to be running the county judge seat again! Come on people, show these people that you're more educated than they give you credit for! Eddie couldn't run Brownsville much less the Cameron County.

For over 8 months I had been trying to go through Open Records requesting Eddie Trevino's legal fees paid by PUB, with no success. Eddie has been hiding by using smoke and mirrors claiming the fee disclosure should not be available through open records, as it is sensitive and competitive. However, I was finally able to verify his legal fees with no help from the Attorney General and the total sum he has collected is $1,395,000 smackaroos. One Million Three Hundred Ninety Five Thousand Dollars as a simple Board attorney that is hired like Sossi to over see the board meeting compliance and open records. Eddie collected $1,395,000 from 2013 thru 2015, not including 2016. If Eddie did not have PUB as a client, he would probably starve, which is why Eddie wants to be County Judge.

I am not running for office and what I have, I have earned. I have 3 properties and am working on the third, but don't worry the house is enough collateral. Now, vote for Dan to keep the real parasite out of taxpayers coffers. Vote against special interest Eddie Trevino, Carlos Marin, OP.10.33 Mike Hdz, Cabler, Rusteberg and the entire lair that cannot make a living without preying on taxpayers or scaming them.
