We are inviting RGV residents and organizations to come celebrate and share information with the community. We will help each other out by learning history from different perspectives and by sharing information about our different causes.
Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of slaves in the state of Texas and throughout the Confederate South on June 19, 1865 – more than 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

If your organization would like to set up a table, please contact us and we’ll add you to the list.
We highly encourage you to also bring food to share (potluck). If you are musically inclined or belong to a dance group, feel free to treat us with your music or dance skills. If enough performers promise to show up, we can set up specific times for their performances.

Mexicans in this country enjoy their freedoms thanks to the Civil Rights fight waged by Blacks, who suffered tremendously. Mexicans were not hosed, whipped, dogged or lynched during the Sixties. When they were beaten and pistol whipped by Anglos in South Texas, they gained NOTHING.

They know Juneteenth is going to be celebrated on Sunday -- same day as Father's Day but Nooooo... they rather draw people coming from Market Days at nearby Mittie Cultural Park and the most awesome event of tomorrow - The Car Show at Historic Brownsville Museum parking lot. What does the hypocrite atheist rock hater say about this? They are respecting people's observance of Sunday as a day of rest. Again, programs being held in the city are poorly coordinated and poorly planned. Having a celebration of freedom is great....but on Father's Day; and a day with other events to split public attention. Poor planning;...as said in the military, "poor planning means piss poor performance". Sad not to give freedom the attention it deserves.
