The two port commissioners who won despite being targeted by Carlos Marin and Mike Hernandez's OP 10.33, have thrown their political weight behind Dr. Tony Zavaleta, the runoff candidate for a seat on the Texas Southmost College board of trustees.
Zavaleta is facing Brownsville Independent School District student ambassadors "facilitator" Evelyn Cantu for the of Brownsville commission. Rivera and Raul Villanueva were backed by the car-lease millionaire in an attempt to take over the port.Likewise, the group's candidates for the seats on the TSC board – Daniel Pizaña, Betty Hockaday and Cantu – failed to win their respective positions. Cantu did manage to get into a runoff with lead vote getter Zavaleta who failed to get the 50 percent plus one vote required for an outright win.
Cantu had the support of the Cardenas clan, who have since retracted their suport and are now backing Zavaleta instead.
"I am asking all my friends and family to support my childhoods friend Tony Zavaleta, " Cowen said.
"You can count on me," Lopez added. "We're with Tony."
Early voting will continue until Tuesday of next week. election day is Saturday, June 18.

FYI: Duardo is not even in Texas. Perhaps it is Jim Barton obssessed with him! All you have to do is ask Jerry McHale. They are good friends. You haven't seen any DPM posts on Jerry's blog 'cause he's in New Mexico again. Jim Barton is being hounded maybe, but it could be Roman or his own son, Diego Lee Rot, who hates him. Tony should win this things hand down. After all, he did have an 800 vote lead in the first round. But these thinly veiled attempts at voter suppression is a matter of concern as is super-PAC 10.33 lurking in the shadow. Went to their Facebook and webpages - what a bunch of pretentious self-righteous assholes! They'll "vet" suitable candidates. Give me a break! They've anointed themselves the "filter" public office holders.
Tony will fill the classroom with students, something that is sorely needed at TSC. And this will be a boon to both institutions, TSC and UTRGV.

It is Diego Lee Rot, Jim Barton's son, who is dogging him. Apparently, there is bad blood between father and son caused by junior's inability to get a job and support himself. Of course, the two Bartons blame Duardo. This came from a woman Barton, Jr. romanced and dumped online.
There is nothing wrong with pussy-like Cowen and Frito Lopez backing Tony Zavaleta. Both are pompous, sanctimonious, finger-wagging hypocrites.
