On Sunday, a Black Lives Matter solidarity vigil will take place in Brownsville.
The vigil will begin at 6 p.m. at Washington Park, located at 721 E Madison St. Everyone is invited to attend the family event.
“The goal of this vigil is to send a message to the Black Lives Matter movement telling them that we’re standing with them and will support their message and will help in any way we can,” said Sadie Hernandez, an organizer of the vigil.
“As Xicanxs, we cannot speak for or over black struggles, so we emphasize that this is a solidarity event run by brown people in support.”

And it's about time the Browns stood behind Blacks. But let's see how many Whites show up. It is then that you will see that it is time for Whites to be ostracized in this town. How about Law enforcement lives matter, Mexican lives matter , All lives matter? The majority of black homicides are caused by blacks on blacks. If law enforcers weren't available to them there would be even more black homicides . These folks are tearing down their communities all by themselves. Police risk their lives stopping these folks from killing each other every single day and yet they've been overheard saying that "more cops need to be killed". I'd like to see what would happen if law enforcement seized patrolling or answering calls in these neighborhoods. Why don't you folks put your time to better use and go into Brownsville's most needy neighborhoods and pass out books, food , clothing etc. to kids who need Them? Rally for recreational activities for our youth to keep them off the streets and out of trouble. Rally to keep guns and drugs off our streets. There's plenty of things this group can rally for. Even POTUS says the Black lives matter movement can be caught up in game playing and people using it to their advantage in order to create chaos...........................ALL LIVES MATTER.

Officer Zamarripa deserves a Vigil.
Mexican Americans that are stopped because they are confused for illegal immigrants deserve a vigil. Black Americans that died during the slavery times in the hands of their white masters deserve a vigil. Today's young blacks, hispanics and even whites. Stop playing with the Pokemons on "the land of make believe" and pay attention in school, get a job, do something in your community like helping out the homeless or serving food to the needy. Get a profession so you can get the local corruption out of your city, county, state and nation. Lighting candles and yelling out expressions of hate will not make a difference.
How about protesting the Mexican government for not keeping the people safe from all the violence in Mexico. Good job inciting more hate in Brownsville instead of doing something productive. If you are a good person, there is no prejudice against black or white people or people of any race, why not unity for everyone against evil.

Wow! That's great to hear! Especially, with 13% of the population, African-Americans commit 52% of all murders, most of them committed against other blacks. Whites and browns are more likely to be murdered by blacks than by murderers within their own cadres. Let's celebrate that black lives matter. Wish they mattered to other black folk.

It was a total failure, hardly anyone showed up. About 30 adults and lots of young kids...I give credit to the intelligent people of Brownsville for refusing to join this racist and violent group. Shame on you Antonio Castillo for doing this a couple of hours after more police are killed. Shame on the few people who went. You are racist and part of the problem and not the solution. Brownsville does not need you and the problems you bring. Tonight I will pray for the fine officers who lost their lives recently while you and your black lives matter friends celebrate their deaths.
