Even if journalism isn't something that blogger Robert Wightman excels in, he has found his niche in spreading gossip and slander (which becomes libel once you post).
Now we have him posting a response to an unidentified commenter to his scurrilous blog where he claims he rejected at least three pro-Minerva Peña posts that accused trustee Caty Presas-Garcia of infidelity. This was in response to a comment on a post where Wightman reported a $1,660 contribution from Brownsville Independent School District general counsel Baltazar Salazar to Peña's campaign.
Now, we know Wightman knows that Presas-Garcia has a husband, children and relatives who read social media and will undoubtedly coma across this ill-concealed bit of evil that he has chosen to post questioning their relative's fidelity to her husband. Oh, well, just collateral damage that can't be avoided in the exercise of your constitutionally-protected right to free speech, right?

This salacious revelation is gratuitously made in the middle of his spirited defense of Caty's honor and virtue and he says Peña, his former confidante of the inner workings of the board of the Brownsville Independent School District is "a vulgar low life who serves no one but her hatred of others."
This is a far cry from the cozy relationship she had with the onion-bun haired trustee and former Porter High School pom-pom girl at one time (see graphic above).
Disingenuously, Wightman goes on to say that "I do not play the game of accusing people of having affairs on their husband, I have kept quiet about this, but since you insist..."
In other words, he doesn't really know if it's true that Presas-Garcia is having an affair and loathes the fact that someone would accuse her of it, but he sees nothing wrong in repeating the slander as a righteous exercise to counter their "nonsense."
This is Wightman's trademark on impugning someone's character by using a third party to besmirch the target. We remember when he posted a transcript of a divorce proceeding involving former trustee Lucy Longoria where her former husband claimed infidelity as part of his answer to her petition.
Local attorneys say this is par for the course in divorce proceedings. The worse you can say about your soon-to-be former mate, the better. Of course, no one expects to see that posted in mass media.
Not satisfied with airing such one-sided allegations of a divorce proceeding, Wightman then went to to use his literary license to charge Longoria with "being in bed" with Accion America's Carlos Quintanilla. Alas, that ungentlemanly and unchivalrous tactic backfired and Lucy went on to beat Rich Zayas to the BISD board.
But of course, saying Lucy was "in bed" was just a literal expression, Wightman protested (wink).
Now he rails against the unidentified commenter whose comment he righteously rejected and repeats the calumny. But of course, the disbarred lawyer thengoes on to gleefully inform Presas-Garcia that the statute of limitations is up. Gee, sorry about that.
Of course, he cloaks his nastiness by saying that it was Minerva who "told me very anti-Christian mean-spirited bogus accusations."
Minerva Peña should have heeded Brownsville's 11th Commandment: "Do not engage Wightman for any reason, It shall come back and bite you in your ample butt."

Politics brings out the worse of any candidate and it makes for interesting reading for those that follow the written words of those who writes about the political system. Perhaps my memory is not what it used to be; therefore, please remind me if Lucy denied such accusations that were printed by one of the local blogger as stated in your article. In the political arena denying such accusations are important in order to disclaim such allegations. In view of the recent comment posted by the local blogger, will the candidate make a statement denying such allegations?
