(Ed.'s Note: It was bumper-to bumper traffic at the Cameron County Pct. 1 and Pct. 2 equipment warehouse as county employees under the direction of county officials oversaw the delivery of sandbags to residents bracing for the possible approach of Tropical Storm (Hurricane?) Harvey to the Texas coast.
By now the county guys have the process down to an art, with cars coming off International Blvd., onto Magnetek Drive, on Cement Road and then entering the county facilities through the equipment entrance at at 3243 East 14th Street. Once they have backed up and loaded their bags, they drive away onto E. 14th Street and away from the traffic. They were limited to six bags per vehicle.
The crush was such that the county will now open two new distribution centers, one at the county materials yard south of Rucker-Carrizales Correctional Facilities in Olmito, and the other at the Pct. 1 materials yard on Oklahoma Road south of the Brownsville landfill.
