We'll we're holding our collective breath in anticipation of the Cameron County District Attorney's Public Integrity Unit chief George Delaunay presenting evidence to a grand jury charging his boss Luis Saenz with misuse of his fuel credit card to the tune of $4,977.
Delaunay has gone after other elected officials for less than that and has vowed – as his former sidekick Victor Cortez used to say – that "no one is above the law."
Will Delaunay personally handcuff Saenz and then accompany him to get his mug shot taken at Rucker-Carrizalezs at Olmito and outfitted with an orange jump suit? Or will he just make Saenz pay back the cash and call it even?
The specifics of the credit card misuse first came to light – surprise of surprises – in the Brownsville Herald, of all places. The report of the misuse was contained in a April 2017 audit report. The daily reported that Auditor Martha Galarza wrote Saenz
"Saenz is permitted an annual auto allowance of $5,400, according to a letter addressed to Saenz by County Auditor Martha Galarza as far back as 2015.
“While the fuel costs for the vehicles you have used is being charged to your Drug Forfeiture Funds, the fact that you are also receiving an auto allowance for the same purpose is not permissible per county policy and state forfeiture guidelines,” Galarza wrote.
In the letter, Galarza recounts a conversation she had with the district attorney in May 2015 when the issue first surfaced during one of his reviews.
“I recall this discussion where the intent of the auto allowance was discussed at length. We discussed the fact that you were using a county vehicle whereby the county was paying for the fuel and receiving an auto allowance at the same time,” Galarza wrote. “After our conversation our records indicate usage of your fuel card ceased for the months of June 2015 through November 2016.”

Delaunay has been tracking down wayward county officials to bring down the power of the state upon miscreants far and wide. Yet, all this time he had one just down the hallway of the DA's Office.
Is "no one above the law" in Cameron County? Or just the D.A.?

You know what Montoya? What integrity unit will spank Oliveira and Lucio. It is not fair to the community. We are grateful Robert Sanchez went to the Capitol to bring these scoundrels to the chopping block.
Politics in Brownsville is like a tripas taco. It bloats you and can kill you
Bobby barton paz puro cacada. Pure shit
Well Delaunay, talked the talk let us see if he will walk the walk and take his boss's misuse and abuse of fuel credit card and falsifying records before the grand jury. Surely he will since he led the investigation into the $300.00 from the tax office scandal. Let us hope there will be some type of punishment dished out to the DA. It is time to set a precedent that NOBODY is above the law..... especially the DA
You think the guy will drop his boss in the grease? Now that is truly funny.
Is McAllen and Laredo the new CROSSROADS OF AMERICA because of the stupid voters in Brownsville that keep electing lucios oliveira martinez? Pat Ahumada was all drama
Nothing gonna happen. They ARE ABOVE THE LAW.
My mustache brings all the girls to the yard,

Luis Saenz is an elected official, only the voters can terminate him. And since he was just elected, we have 3 more years with him. Not even the feds want him. So lets move forward to the next story.

Yet, if guilty and given a sentence [jailed] the county can replace him. Hope this will happen, this is the tip if the ice burg, you watch.
Attach one cuff to him and the other to his nephew Joey and get two to reach his sister-in-law or tia around her to cuff her too. They are all a bunch of crooks who have survived as "upities" with money that does not belong to them.
Elected or not, if he did wrong, he, like Trump should be kicked out.
Fuck you, Diego! Say no to drugs, menso . Jack is embarrassed by your idiotic comments ! Sad.
Por PENDEJOS. YOU GET WHAT YOU VOTE FOR.
Luis Saenz is a disgrace to our county and to the judicial system in general. He needs to be behind bars where criminals belong!!
How is it that this has all been documented and he has been warned and still no one has the guts to do anything about it?! This is truly outrageous. This man needs to be taught a lesson and learn he is not above the law. He has wasted hundreds of thousands of taxpayers money by taking Yzaguirre to trial on bogus charges with horrible investigators doing the dirt. He spent over $650,000.00 on a $300.00 false claim during Yzaguirre's trial. Now he is double dipping, getting money ($5400.00) deposited directly to him and then racking up $4977.00 in gas charges, and no one is going to do anything about this?! What he did is considered an Offense Against Public Administration, Abuse of Office, and is a State Felony! So now WHO is going to prosecute this guy? I bet if they did an audit on his Drug Forfeiture Funds they would find some discrepancies. According to Texas State law, funds need to be strictly documented and state for who, what, and all the information including the person's phone number and address, they are being used for. The DAs office authorized Rene Olivares to spend $300.00 on his "informant" to pay for Tony Yzaguirre's bbq tickets. In what way, shape, or form, is that considered good investigating?! There should have been no funds distributed to this "informant" that did not pertain DIRECTLY to the case. Yet they decided to dish out money from the Drug Forfeiture Funds for bbq tickets! Umm bad call on the DAs and DPS investigator Rene Olivares part???? Ya, I think so. Hence the need to Audit this fund. Are they really using this fund appropriately? Ask yourself, as law abiding tax payers...do you think your hard earned monies are being used appropriately on bbq tickets and gas? That money is supposed to be used for investigations...not random usage. AUDIT AUDIT AUDIT! If it was any one of us who did this, we would have been raked through the coals. SO why does he get to get away with misusing and fraudulently using taxpayer funds??? UGH Brownsville!!!
In spit of most evidence to the contrary, I always believed that the law applied to everyone the same way.
Then along came Hillary Clinton and her flagrant disregard for the laws of this country and nobody did anything about it. Clearly the Clintons are above the law. If the Clintons are above the law, why not Saenz?
From my observations, Cameron County has NO officials who are ethical. Corruption has soaked into the culture of this community and none of our elected officials have demonstrated any ethical or moral character. Because of this "good" citizens don't run for public office against the culture of corruption in the Democratic Party.
MARTHA GALARZA READ COMMENT ABOVE AND DO SOMETHING!
where are the Texas Rangers on this? or are they like the FBI, they pick and choose who to prosecute.
Texas Rangers, FBI are as dirty as Luis Saenz!! These inept bastards were involved with the tax office investigation. None of those morons knew what the hell they were doing. They were really good at not following proper protocols, procedures or common respect for the tax office staff. Give me a break!! We need an overhaul
Does anyone remember the Cameron County Good Government League? Judge Hester?
It's a shame, that evidence has been introduced and yet this has not been tabled by the commissioner's court. Yes, each one of the county commissioners has the authority to initiate an internal investigation and report its findings to a law enforcement agency, which in this case be the Texas Rangers.
I challenge each registered tax paying voter to show up to the next county commissioners court meeting and voice your desire that an investigation is initiated by the Texas Rangers. The county has a system in place to monitor the gas consumption and mileage driven on the county vehicle. Deputies and other county employees have to be terminated for this same act. If the DA has any integrity he will insist for an outside agency to come in and conduct a forensic audit. Let's see what the County Judge will do? it will be interesting
Purro do as I say not as I do. Ah San Benito but over there they just call you disgruntled citizens. And x city commissioner calling a Citizen concern bull shit.
Theft of a public official. Prosecute this asshole. He is going after Elizondo for the same charge. What the Fuck is the difference. I know, Luis Saenz thinks he is above the law. In Delaunay's words, "no one is above the law." That statement only applies to everyone accept the crooked mustache bastard. Keep turning a blinds eye and that whole crooked DA's office is going DOWN!!
