A man who was recently treated aboard a City of Brownsville EMS ambulance is saying that a week after a EMT administered an Intravenous (IV) tube in his arm, a bruise is still visible due to the "aggressive" way the paramedic stuck the needle in his vein.
Jose Luis Mendoza Jr., of Portway Acres subdivision said he wasn't feeling well on October 19 and his relatives called the Brownsville EMS. As he was being taken to a local hospital, one of the EMTs attempted to place the IV in his arm.
"The EMS paramedic aggressively grabbed my arm and with the other hand put the IV, moving it in apparent anger side to side and causing me great pain," he wrote. "It hurt so much, I got scared of the EMT's aggressiveness."
The rough treatment not only caused Mendoza great pain, but left a nasty bruise that lasted more than a week, at which time he contacted the Brownsville Fire Dept. Capt. Daniel Zuniga at Station 8, located at the Port of Brownsville.
Mendoza made a report about the incident October 25 to Zuniga, who then told him that he could also make the report to the Brownsville Police Dept.
"I wrote a statement to Capt. Zuniga and after I gave it to him, he told me that maybe I shouldn't talk to the police, but to talk to EMS Chief Hector Valdez instead," Mendoza wrote.
Mendoza then contacted Valdez who asked that he provide him with his number and that he would give him a call.
With the bruise in his arm still clearly visible, Mendoza said he has not received any call from the EMS chief and wonders why EMTs with such aggressive and rough behavior toward patients are allowed to man the city ambulances.
"Whay are they so rough and angry with patients," Mendoza asked. "Who's supervising these guys?"

Is this one those stories from The Onion? This is meant to be a comedic piece, right? Good work Montoya!
Anybody that has ever had an IV inserted, likely has a bruise. This guy is a Naco Snowflake.
I'm not a doctor but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night. Maybe the EMT wouldn't have had to hunt for a vein if his arm didn't look like a busted can of biscuits. Just sayin.
Cam'on, give those poor guys a break, they must be very frustrated, with the BFD political effervescence.
Lmao your actually right hunting is what it was.
Who knows if the "non-ambulatory" patient that specifically needed an ambulance messed with the iv at the hospital etc....if the emt was so "aggressive" why didnt he notify the hospital staff or to his ob/gyn ?
He sounds like a grifter looking to fabricate a law suit.
My uncle is 80 yrs. old, has had about 3 surgeries at Valley Regional. The nurses (male and female)have given him purple skin (MORETONES)after trying to put Iv.
The older you are, the harder it gets to insert an injection into the skin. If you suffer from cholesterol or diabetes it clogs your veins and it makes it even harder. ANY DOCTOR will tell you that.
This man has NO CASE at all.
EMS Chief Hector Valdez you made it son.
Stop complaining At least it was a new needle
Ah pinche Valdez Jefe! if only Lenny could see you now lol. Good luck bro
I once had blood drawn at one hospital emergency room and the nurse did not bring enough vials to secure the amount of blood she needed to draw for several tests. She left me sitting there with a needle in my arm while she went to get some more vials. What if I had not known what to do with the needle and the blood would have blurted out? She came back with another nurse to help her and she screamed at her when she saw what she had done. I also told her that while she was trying to find a vein, she had applied a rubber tourniquet and it fell into the trash can underneath, she picked it out of the trash can and place it on my arm again. These are our professionals!
What a wimp! Poor baby got a boo-boo. Would he have been better off without EMS??????
Some old farts bruise easily.
THIS IS BULLSHIT....COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN ETC........LUCKY YOUR ALIVE YOU ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
I am not related or know this person, but if he were related to any of YOU that state he is a wimp, an ass etc, YOU would be the first to be calling a lawyer to line up all that need to be sued. it is just the reality and a sorry state of thinking that permeates in Brownsville. Just remember next time you have a fender bender and wait for the never ending calls to get you to go see a lawyer to sue whomever or whatever entity needs to be sued.
This person is reporting abuse and that is fine. If someone mistreats a child of yours, oh familiar would you do stay with your arms crossed or scratching your belly? I don't think so just saying
Seguro no pago la cuenta!
Hay personas que solo opinan sin saber en realidad lo que el o afectada este pasando, es fácil opinar y difícil comprender a otros.
Wow bro, u deserve a purple heart. In fact they should take a purple heart away from a vet and give it to you. Thank you for your bravery.

He could have refused the I.V. That’s what I would have done and waited until he got to the hospital. If you do not like something being done to you, exercise your rights. Educate your self.
