HERALD STORY CONFIRMS ELIZONDO, ESTRADA SUSPENSIONS

("Elizondo was also placed on administrative leave by the city today. We have been told that apart from the violations of city policy regarding private ambulance service in the city, auditors have found even more transgressions linked to him personally. In a commission audit, it was discovered that the dispatchers were steering transfer patients to Intercity Ambulance Services, a company associated with Elizondo's friends and that he had personally ordered the calls at least four times to be steered to them. The audit found that the city had lost some $62,000 as a result of 78 transfer calls steered to Intercity."El Rrun-Rrun, Oct. 6

Former Brownsville Fire Chief Carlos Elizondo and firefighter Ernie Estrada were suspended Monday and placed on administrative leave with pay pending the results of an outside investigation, according to letters obtained by The Brownsville Herald.

“During this administrative leave with pay you are not allowed to return to your department or fulfill any of the official duties of your position except as instructed by the Human Resources Department,” states suspension letters sent by Jarrett Sheldon, interim fire chief.

Neither Elizondo nor Estrada was immediately available for comment.

The letters do not state who is conducting the outside investigation or the scope of the probe.

However, according to evidence compiled by an audit committee that formed in July, Elizondo and Estrada had redirected dispatcher calls to a private ambulance company 78 times.

Citizens don't be deceive BISD is infested with corruption, let's ask former Board Members that will step up to the plate and testify to what they have seen during their term.. I bet there is lots to be talked about and the truth is people Condone Board Members that are thieves and corrupt and/or aligned to vendors... BISD is not the best BISD is a farce and honestly BISD needs to start raising standards among internal administration who are a bunch of Kiss Asses to the Board Members and Kiss Asses to the Superintendent Zendejas.. If Charlie Cabler is found to be involved or condoned corruption in the Fire Department, this "family leave" he is on could turn in to retirement very quickly. Whatever is happened in the city, the City Manager and the Mayor are knowledgeable, if not complicit. With a racist on the city commission and thieves among us, where is the honest adult leadership in Brownsville.

Disciplinary action is far from criminal repercussions. Esto es pa taparle el ojo al macho.
It's temporary until we forget and move on to the next corruption scandal.

If Carlos reads this, I'd like to address this to him. If he has any integrity left, he should silently resign his position at BISD and leave town quietly. His wife, a counselor can support him until he finds another job. I ask Carlos to do what is good for the kids, including his, for if he insists that nothing is wrong, it could become "adios" for him and his entire family. Carlos, I was at one time 100% behind you but now find that I do not know what to or not to believe. I can not believe that you went so low as to do as what you did and included the school district which you swore to uphold and respect. You were doing so good, but I guess greed makes people do things that are so corrupt. You are shaming the district and who knows which are lies and which are not. There is already one snake on the board that you know was being a "stuff blouse" but now it turns out that you were in just as deep as she is. We are suppose to concentrate on the children and not on personal issues! Carlos, I am truly disappointed in you and I fear for your family. I hope you are innocent until proven guilty.

Yeah, and that’s not counting the times the nursing homes called IAEMT directly because they had all had a sticker at all the nurses station saying “CALL IAEMT FOR TRANSFERS” with Rey Gil’s phone number. Pretty sure I have a pic of one somewhere.

The real numbers would be closer to 78 calls per week. Oh hey and how about the time when Rey Gil performed rapid sequence intubation on someone while "working" for IAEMT off the records for cash? (without legal duty or medical direction).
