There's a shake up at KGBT-Channel 4, and one of those faces you won't see will be anchor Marcy Martinez, Freddie Vela, and Eddie Flores.
And another face that will be missing from the KGBT small screen is Clay Williams.
Sources say that is the latest from the original "Gang Of Four" lineup to be forced out from the house that Martha Benavides built. "He declined to sign the paltry and insulting contract the news director tossed on the ground in front of him," said one.
Vela and Martinez apparently caught taking late lunches. She was suspended for a bit, then fired. If they fired Vela for the long lunches, they had to be consistent and fire Marcy too, to not show favoritism.
Sources close to the station say that Martinez had become a prima donna lately, and besides the long lunches, other employees there had found it difficult to endure her overbearing personality.
Other sources say that the station cited a "morals" clause and when they pulled the plug on her employment. They say she had bee warned about her transgressions before and the admonitions went unheeded. When she was fired, they say that she threw a fit and security had to be called to remove her from the premises.
Social media commentators say that this was the second time Marcy has been suspended. About 2007 or so she was suspended for two weeks for coming in late when she was the morning anchor. After her suspension she was demoted to reporter, Laurie Salazar took her place. She eventually worked her way back to anchor, then left the KGBT for a bit for some non-TV job. But the rush of being in the spotlight beckoned her back to KGBT.
According to these sources, Marcy said she's done with TV for now and is looking to go into public relations.

Maybe Marci can do automobile commercials. Don't watch Channel 4 often and there latest change in the guide makes it difficult to tape....like the news was going to be more than 30 minutes. If I watch the news I usually quit when the weather comes on, so skip weather and sports.

but someone pulled the rug from under his feet. One can only wonder why Channel 5 does
not do the same with Shoemaker, the weatherman who doesn't shut his mouth up and repeats and
repeats himself with the same thing said in 4 or 5 different ways and makes it difficult to
understand all the garbage he spurts out. Channel 5 has news at 1:30 AM, 4:30 PM, 5,6,7,8, 9
12PM 4, 5 6 10, 10:30 and starts again. Farrah Fazzal once told me was that not everyone saw the news the same time I did, so they had to show it several times, but this is ridiculous, especially when it is all the same junk. Channel Fox 6 has the girls who dress like they are going to some strip joint. What has happened to professional dresses like Dina Herrera-Garza?

We noticed that Marci Martinez found a way to elbow into last night's telecast of Halloweem festivities. If she is representing a company or service, she found a way to rub it into the faces of Channel 4 administrators.
Sinclair bought the station 3 years ago and their new news director, in an effort to penny pinch, created an auditing system that pushed the expensive talent out in order to fill the gaps with canned material. Clearly any remaining reporters or new reporters would end up agreeing to punitive rule enforcement and long work hours for a fraction of the cost. No bueno.

Eddie Flores left KGBT voluntarily for health reasons, he was not fired. As for leaving KRGV previously, he had expected a position bump when an opening came up. Instead it went to someone with WSU less experience. He knew then that KRGV was going to shaft him for the rest of his time there. This is the same thing that happened to Laurie Salazar. That's why she left KRGV for KGBT as well.
