If you listen to the infamous tape recording released by Carlos Elizondo to discredit City of Brownsville Commissioner Cesar de Leon to distract people from his potentially criminal actions as Brownsville Fire Department chief, you might remember some of his comments.
But now that he has approached blogger and retired teacher Jerry McHale and told him not to write about his wife or family, (or else?) a pattern is emerging.
Just this morning one of our seven readers called us concerned that she had heard that FBI agents had visited De Leon's office at the corner of Van Buren and E. 10th streets and wondered whether the commissioner was in the sights of the federal government.
We inquired (as we are wont to do at times) from the office and were told (anonymously) that federal agents had indeed gone aknocking there. But they weren't there to ransack De Leon's office or take his computer. Apparently, they were there to make sure that Elizondo was not acting on his veiled threats (warnings?) about hurting him "on purpose" or otherwise.
Coming on the heels of the encounter between McHale and the former fire chief, this has raised some eyebrows among local players who wonder whether its merely bravado or whether there is actually some sinister side to Elizondo.
We remember when there was a similar incident at Annie S. Putegnat Elementary that was being used by the BISD and SombreroFest staff as an office from where they organized the festival at Washington Park. At that time we were told that Elizondo had insisted that he (and his family) be allowed to use the bathroom in the school and not the portable toilets used by the rest of the public.
There was a mini-confrontation between SombreroFest staff and Elizondo (backed by BISD counsel Baltazar Salazar) and there were some bruised feelings on both sides.
When we wrote about it, we got a stern call from Elizondo telling us that we could write anything we wanted about him, but to leave his "family" out of it. He didn't seem to realize that he had curried popular support for his candidacy to the BISD board and that by exposing his family to the public spotlight, he himself had limited their expectations of privacy.
And some former members of the BISD board have told us that he had issued these types of "warnings" at them and some adminitrators.
It would behoove this gent to realize that other people are watching his actions and – in the case of federal agents – might move to assure that potential witnesses, like De Leon, are safe. If they feel that the case they're making will be threatened (there's that word again) by his actions or somber warnings, they might move to preempt anything from happening.
Just saying.

Elizondo is an arrogant asshole, but does it really take the FBI to protect Cesar de Leon....a racist and bigot city commissioner. The city is in turmoil and has no leadership. Tony Martinez is worthless and cannot make a decision. Cesar de Leon should resign.
So are you sure they did not visit Cesar because of his demand Carlos pay him $1500 or else? There are a lot of guilty paries on that tape. I hope they all go down.
Juan shift you anger, hate, resources towards de Leon. He is next in line to fall. Just like you took Elozondo down, now it is Cesars turn. Tony shifts the attention from Cesar to Elozondo on purpose, Elizondo's arraignment and raid of his home was staged to protect Cesar. Go after Cesar he is a much bigger fish. With Cesar you will get to Tony.

Regardless of what you thing of Mr. De Leon, he has the same rights as anyone else under the constitution of the United States of America. God bless the USA.

FBI was probably there letting the Leon think they are protecting him, but I don't think so. I believe he's been looked at for other than elizondos dealings. This goes further and deeper. Give it two months and the rattlers will start. Not such of a nice Christmas for the Dems.
When you wrong people intentionally, life makes sure you Cesar get your share, next time be a better human.

You see what a cell phone attached to people's ears and mouth can do? social media is the root of all chingaderas going on in this world, but people don't learn. Facebook is a bunch of showing off crap that once used to be private to family life and professional life, but now everyone wants to know when and where you are taking a crap or stealing money or cheating on something. Throw those damn phones away and all other chingete machine that people are using to mess up a pure simple life we once enjoyed. Try leaving your phone at home for one day and not connect to any tech stuff and see how pleasant your day will be. Carlos, I hope you learned your lesson because I do not think they will let you keep a phone where you may be going.
Yep people are so obsessed with social media its really obvious and stupid how they use facebook and similar sites to compete with each other, nobody really cares about the new car you bought.
Carlos, is a bully. He cant fight, one time he and JJ "MUSH" Garcia put on gloves and Mush tore the boy a new one. Carlos started to lactate from his breasts. he said it was sweat but last I heard we have thousands of pores in our entire body not just one on each nipple.
