Once the poster child of the City of Brownsville under City Manager Charlie Cabler, former Fire Chief Carlos Elizondo – since demoted and suspended without pay – sought to avoid facing the media cameras and reporters' questions at his arraignment in the 107th District Court today.
A grand jury indicted Elizondo one charge each of of Theft by a Public Official and Misappropriation of Fiduciary Property. The Brownsville Firefighters Association say that as secretary of their Political Action Committee, he used their PAC's bank account for his personal benefit, withdrawing (personally or though his agents) at least $8,000 without authorization.Scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Elizondo and his new attorney Eddie Lucio Jr. (not related to the senator or state rep by the same name), showed up about five minutes early and, seeing the gaggle of cameras and reporters, walked down the corridor to the opposite side of the third floor of the Cameron County Courthouse.
The cameras followed, of course, and filmed him as he and Lucio sat on a bench. After a while, Lucio led Elizondo through the corridor between the back of the courtrooms and the judges' chambers off limits to non-court personnel and the media. They emerged in Ben Euresti's court entering through a side door.
Since he was required by the court to be present at his arraignment to prove he had not absconded on his bond, his attorney entered a plea of not guilty and waived his arraignment appearance before the court. Elizondo's trial date has been scheduled for Jan. 16.
And to think that just one day before – as a member of the board of the Brownsville Independent School District – his image was televised through the district's cable channel as the board did the annual business of its $540 million budget.
And so the man whose face was exhibited to the world as a symbol of the City of Brownsville now shielded his face from the public and let his lawyer do the talking.

He needs to go to jail, no if's or but's about it. Sources at the courthouse say that he is determine to take down with him whoever he has to and that he won't go down alone. They say he has the goods on quite a few office holders. he is willing to make a deal with the DA and start singing. It's going to get ugly. Because of the type of person he is his previous attorney Noe Garza decided he did not want to be involved with him. At the courthouse and around the community Elizondo is known as the "SNAKE".
Let's hope that this moves swiftly through the judicial process, for the benefit of the public and to let others charged with corruption in this city know that their's is coming. Elizondo should recuse himself from any decisions in BISD or resign his position all together.
Cesar de Leon seems to be in that same dark corner. Letter to the Herald by Italo Zarate was a pathetic defense of a racist and a bigot. Saying these things in private reflects his real feelings about African-Americans and his comments also inferred that Hispanic men beat their wives. Cesar de Leon is a racist....a living racist....and we should demand that he resign; not make excuses for him. If he were an Anglo and made racist comments about Hispanics, he might even be hanged on he courthouse steps. This community would demand the Anglo go. Not demanding that Cesar de Leon resign means the community accepts racism by its own....but not by others. That my friends is racism.

Carlos won't get a fair trial in Cameron county . With all the bullshit and lies that are posted on this site how do you expect anyone to get a fair trial ?
Here's my take on all this .
1. After Carlos ditched the dead weight of Rigo and went on to bigger and better things , Rigo was on a mission to take Carlos down .
2. Carlos supported Luis Saenz's oppenent and you know Luis he was taking names of people who went against him . Rigo jumped at the opportunity to join Team Saenz with knowing that if Saenz won he would help him take down Carlos . Luckily for Rigo Luis barley won and then TEAM SAENZ was born .
3.Rigo with no original ideas of his own decides to copy Elizondo and run for BISD school board . Rigo thought he had this one in the bag . How could Rigo lose with the mighty TEAM SAENZ running his campaign ? Well that unlucky piece of shit ended up finishing 3rd . So now Bocanegra has been told to run for a county position because TEAM SAENZ feels that their power is on a county election . Well if Alex decides to run Rigo will finish 3rd again .
4. Now to the firefighters union election . TEAM SAENZ spokesman Mario Saenz was publicly endorsing Jorge Lerma for Union President knowing that if they got their puppet in they could take down Carlos. Jorge Lerma was elected and that's how TEAM SAENZ got all this to go down . Shortly after Lerma took over the dumb fuck Mario Saenz became the spokesperson of the Firefighters union. During the last city elections Mario was personally handing out endorsements on behalf of the Firefighters Union and Team Seanz. What came along with the endorsement was that if they got elected they would get together and fire Elizondo. Two of the three endorsed canidates lost .
5. Jorge Lerma now as President of the TEAM SAENZ Firefighters Union has sought the advice of DA Luis Saenz on how to go about taking Carlos Elizondo down .
6. The best charge they could come up with is a bogus missing union money . So with no strong evidence Luis went with a weak indictment and put on a strong show to hurt Carlos .
7. You will soon see that these charges won't stick and Eddie Lucio ( no relation to the father and son duo ) will defeat Luis's prosecutors again and Carlos will be found not guilty .
If we have to turn to Erasmo Castro or RIgo Bocanegra then this city is so fucked!!!! Both are lazy and want to make money without having to work hard for it!!!

field, capital of the state, gets the Black and Decker factory and Brownsville is
still waiting for TENESKA and Space-X. Why is that? Who wants to mingle with the

1. You are delusional.
2. You are Carlos (or a friend/family/compadre).
3. You focused only on the theft charge and forgot about the other factors involved in his downfall such as pilfering EMS calls into his own pocket, bad barbacoa deals leading to "suicides", regularly making paranoia induced recordings to use as blackmail, squandering BISD funds on conflict of interest contracts such as (Ie. IAEMT), squandering fire department budget funds on personal interests, abuse of power for personal interest etc. etc. etc.
4. See number 1 again.
Well this is what I think, 1st you must really be close to Rigo. 2nd either you know Rigo or you know Carlos very close. 3rd Carlos will get what he deserves, maybe he will be acquitted of all these charges, or maybe he will be prosecuted in a guilty manner. At this point it's anyone's game

Why try to cover by making it seem like it's Rigo if anything Rigo did everything to help Carlos. No ideas of his own are you kidding me you think it was Carlos's idea to run for BISD, Carlos was a puppet then figured out how to scam and turned it around to his advantage. Once he figured out how to squander fire fighter funds it got out of hand he became greedy and wanted more. I'm sure they will find that he also took from BISD through the ambulance/fire academy you know the one that his Brother and close friend own where he is a silent partner.
