At about 3:45 p.m. today, Robert "Capt. Bob" Sanchez paid his filing fee to run for Cameron County Judge against incumbent Eddie Treviño.
Sanchez, who has in the past voted as a Republican, has run for city commissioner and mayor (nonpartisan offices) is a past member of the Brownsville Public Utility Board.
It is expected that former county judge (and ex-Texas Secretary of State) Carlos Cascos will also run but on the Republican Party primary.
His former administrative assistant Cris Valadez said he was surprised when he first heard of Sanchez's intentions but welcomed his entry into the Democratic Party primary.
"We welcome the news. Ware always glad to see that people have a choice," Valdez said. "The more the merrier."

Chris can pretend to be surprised, but it is him who manipulated Robert to run for county judge. I guarantee you, Chris even managed to give Robert the filing fee so Eddie will have an opponent. The strategy is to force Eddie to spend money knowing Robert has no chance to winning the primary, but it will not work. Robert is not a credible candidate and has too much baggage. What this is going to do, it is going to allow Eddie to raise more money now that Robert entered the primary, so this will backfire on Cascos. Cascos will lose, especially when it gets out why he was asked to resign as Secretary of State and some possible "me too's" come out of the wood work. My vote is for Eddie.

Trevino, Cascos and Bob are ALL soiled in the lack of family values but Cascos IS an accountant and has held the job.

The rampant corruption in the county means that capable candidates don't run, because the local political "cartel"...the Dumbokratic Party manages the corruption in our judicial and law enforcement systems.

I wish Cascos would have run against the Sucio Lucio's instead.
What Cascos and Eddie Trevino have in common that I like about both of them, is that they recognize we have a gem of a tourist industry, and aren't sell outs to the oil companies like the Sucios. Cascos stood up for Isla Blanca Park and Trevino against LNG. These type of stances are why both have been successful and continue to enjoy broad support.
Once you vote to put toxic sludge into our water, and refineries near schools, like the Sucio Lucios, you need a swift boot to the ass.

This is a terrible example of our local government at work. Mr. Sanchez has so many criminal charges and legal issues with the city of Brownsville. How could he possibly run against Eddie Trevino??
My moral compass does not always point north but at some point - you have to wonder about someone like Robert Sanchez. I truly hope the citizens of Brownsville are able to get the facts and vote accordingly.....
