Despite putting on a cheerful face to a very serious health problem, City of Brownsville Commissioner Ricardo Longoria has confirmed that he is suffering from a bad heart viral infection.
Longoria posted his explanation this past Sunday when he was headed to San Antonio for a graduation.
But other sources say that the cheery tone of the post by the commissioner belies reports by other sources that he was seen wearing a heart defibrillator, something that Longoria has not mentioned.Unlike pacemaker which are used to treat heart rhythms that are too slow, fast, or irregular,a defibrillator uses electrical pulses to prompt the heart to beat at a normal rate.
Longoria today posted again congratulating Brownsville Independent School District parents and students on their graduation.
In his post, Longoria blames about with bronchitis for the viral infection and says he is being attended to by to local physicians and will go to Houston to see a heart specialist for further care.
The holidays are a bad time to deal with health problems, especially ones dealing with the heart. We have had our differences over city policy with the commissioner from District 1 (Southmost), but that is secondary to good health. We wish him well.
