In at least two previous posts we have detailed the troubles surrounding suspended Capt. Carlos Garza who was sent home without his badge or service weapon about two weeks ago.
Sources close to the Cameron County Sheriff's Dept. administration confirmed he was fired last week.
Later, the same sources said that not only was Garza fired but that his termination does not mean the investigation is over, but is "still ongoing."
This followed other reports late Wednesday investigators armed with search warrants descended upon his home.
Our queries to Deputy Chief Gus Reyna when Garza was reportedly suspended yielded a "no comment."

"I can neither confirm nor deny any issues regarding personnel matters," Reyna said. "We don't comment on personnel matters to the media, or to bloggers."

However, the department is rife with rumors, some which we have been able to ascertain. There are reports that the department phone that was issued to Garza has been retrieved and that it contains several text contacts with at least three females with who he might have been romantically involved. At least one is said to be a county employee in the probation department.
If true, this would constitute potential violations of appropiate standards of conduct on top of whatever criminal changes might result from the investigation.
The sheriff's administration under Omar Lucio is said to have initiated the investigation of unspecified allegations against Garza, a seasoned law-enforcement officer who oversees the Criminal Investigation Division, Special Investigation Division and Jail Division and supervised more than 300 employees on a daily basis.

Seems like Gus Reyna is behind all of this. Does he not remember when he wrecked his unmarked unit while he was drunk near sunrise mall. Seems like that should have been a reason to fire him. Its all political. Carlos Garza hope you run against your ex boss. you have my vote.
Hold your horses! Captain Garza terminated because he had texts or numbers of three females on it? "Let me tell you this," in broken English OR the way Lucio talks. Remember this one, "do as I say, not as I do." "I am God's gift to women," and "I know how to make love to a woman." This one was the classic, "people, look at me as God and you are my disciples." It made it more classic in that broken English you speak! Remember those phases Lucio? You member! Need I remind you that you lost a couple of portable radios while working with the Harlingen Police Department because you were being unfaithful to your wife! Need I remind you that you had to break a couple of the rear windows of your patrol unit because you accidentally locked yourself in the back seat while being with a woman! Need I remind you that you almost got shot because you got caught with a woman in her house! Need I remind you that you got reprimanded (vocal) for flirting and making sexual innuendos to officer's wives!
So, now you want to terminate a dedicated and loyal officer because he's got numbers of females on his phone? Was one of those females, one of yours? You allowed Gus Reyna to go into work late from his alcohol and drug binges! It wasn't until he wrecked a unit that you allowed him to call, "I'm sick" and take advantage of the county insurance and clean up his act. He quits or is allowed time off and comes back to the same position, WOW! I guess there is no double standard in the Cameron County Sheriff Office! If you're trying to protect Gus, give it up because there is no way LEO's in this county will support, vote or allow him to be Sheriff.
You'd better think twice about going after my friend, Carlos! Because you got some serious skeletons in your closet that are itching to come out!
