EVEN TRAIL USERS MARVEL AT THE EXCESSES AND DISPARITY

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

After reading about the lack of bus shelters and sidewalks in the city on this blog, I notice that there are 3 benches within 100 yard radius on the running/bike trail.

I have been  running on the trail for eight years and have never witnessed anyone sitting down.

Why don't they place these benches at a bus stop so people can sit down while waiting for the bus?
We who use the trail generate zero money. The bus passengers pay a fee for the service.

Recently they replaced a perfectly good portion of the trail behind the Brownsville event center using cement/concrete instead of asphalt. What a waste.

Why does the trail need pergola? People are on the trail to exercise not to people watch.

The poor are collateral. Progress is pushed onward by do'ers, not takers!

Juan, could we ask for/demand from you more pics of Rose Gowan? I think she's just so extremely gorgeous!!!
Thanks, Jules.

Leave the benches at the trail, I have seen, very nice sexual positions on those benches, Lol, just check around them for a collection of different color condoms

Juan, where did all that funding for proper bus benches end up in? Gowen, you claim we are an All American City and a Destination site, so why don't you all put funding to put proper bus stops all around the mall? Man, how sad to drive by the expressway and see folks standing around. What an embarrassment? Oh, but Mayor Martinez is fixing up his Palm Blvd and areas near his business interests? Juan, can you advise the public on where all the funding is going to? Bike trails and Cyclobias?

So the bike trail users are takers? I don't see a requirement of a fee to use the bike trails, like the bus users or should I say do'ers, because they pay not take like the bike trail users.

They already have shades and benches are they now going to ask for a water fountain and police security? MAMONES

Juan why do you want to Gowan chisquis?

I'm just glad the people that live in those neighborhoods pay for the trails. Thanks Mr Hudson.

How much is it costing to maintain those rent a bikes, with this weather conditions taking a toll on that chains and metal?

Because Commissioner Gowen doesn't care about bus riders, just wants bike riders to have a place to sit when they get tired. Rose Gowen is out of contact with the people of Brownsville, as is Tony Martinez and the rest of our city commission.

Whoever decided to use cement is not a runner. Running on cement is tougher on the body and generates more Injuries.

juan gee whiz dude, im glad you bring all of this monkey busy out in the public, its a shame that city elected officials city mayor and commissioners don't give a hoot, but we as voters are to blame cuz we keep reelecting them again and again and again, example piss poor example of an attorney el lard y sebo of rene oliviera.

Ive see very few bus benches - however the ones I do see..Central Blvd and the one across the street from El Ultimo Taco among others.

Guess what.. they are homeless peoples house.. you can't stand within 100 ft of them due to their nauseating smell. They don't have a place to shower, their homeless I get it, but why aren't you complaining about the benches that do exist and can't be used by people who are waiting for the bus because its a homeless persons "bed"?

Why the double standard - are you OK with the bus benches being hoarded by the homeless? Who by the way collect enough limosnas for rent, but rather buy beer or weed?

What about complaining about what we DO HAVE and taking care of that. Why do you want more if you can't take care of what you already have?

OR!! is it that you want more BUS benches for the homeless to sleep on?

It's the whole city that pays for those useless bike trails. Ya vide todo. El pinche gringo just make a lot of money selling those houses to all you pendejos.

If the city can not take care of what it has then why did they go ahead and construct the bike trails if they can't maintain what they have?

Maybe it's more important to the elected officials to constructs bike trails and disregard the community's needs. The continuation of this reckless behavior will ultimately result in replacing ALL the elected officials.

If the city officials decide that a bike trail is of urgent need for the elite and completely disregard the homeless and the needs of this community the citizens have a right to complain and complain and complain until these problems are addressed or they get voted out of office.

Rose Gowen, Tony Martinez and the entire city commission are out of touch with the people of Brownsville. And, while they discuss the future of a rock in Washington Park, they are willing to sit side by side and support a racist on the city commission; Cesar de Leon. This city is floundering in the absence of leadership and management. As the city swirls down the toilet....Gowen, Martinez and the city commission don't seem to notice. Time to get that racist, Cesar de Leon, off the city commission. These folks continue to fail the citizens of this city.

Why does Bea Rosenbaum use a racist, Cesar de Leon, as spokesman for her campaign. Cesar de Leon is a racist and bigot who should be booted from local politics. Cesar de Leon is a disgrace to this town and should be forced to resign the city commission. There is no place for a living racist making public policy...when we are moving toward movement of a rock because of events of 150 years ago. Cesar de Leon is a public nuisance because of his racism!

Please check on usefulness of the downtown parking garage, or the downtown remodeling of the building on 11th and Washington, or the municipal gold course. The tennis courts seem to be a good investment. Don't know how useful the convention centers is. Wish we could do a study to see of the expenses can be reconciled with the supposed benefits.
Maybe we should accept that the bike trail is just another one of those services.
Maybe too few benefit, but those few may be great for city moral by averting a street bike accident.
But it's all "hit and miss" deal.
Like shooting darts.
We keep trying to hit the "bulls eye".
God Bless America.

Studies are useless tools for excuses to spend more city funds and legitimize useless pet projects. The majority of studies are done by friends and relatives. Listening to the community and common sense are tools and it's cheap.

juan I was checking out sales tax allocation by city-Brownsville on the Texas comptollers website- and yes folks its all public information, monthly average is around $3 million of which the City takes half of that and then the other half of that goes to both the 4A and 4B EDC corporations to use for city projects etc. Now if my math skills that I learned at BISD schools are correct that comes to roughly more or less a yearly amount of $18 million for the City of Brownsville and then $9 million for each of the EDC corps 4A $9 million and 4B $9 million that's a lot of mula, wow so why can the city or either one of the EDC's fork over just a little bit to install some benches on Bus routes? Go figure !

They will only do that when one of the commissioners or one of the mayor's cronies/ relatives has a bench company.

So chisquies is catering to her elite friends because they have bike stores and figures that by the construction of bike trails their business will increase. The only problem here is chisquies is using city funds so her friends will benefit. Que raqueta de esta pinche vieja!
In return her elite friends will help in getting her re-elected typical cronyism...

The only problem here is the typical citizen don't ride bikes, like in China.

I saw bike lanes inside Las Prietas. Just who do you think will use a bike inside Las Prietas?
