PASS THE BARBACOA BOYS, EASY ON THE DOUBLE MANTECA

Image result for greasy barbacoa meat
By Juan Montoya
We guess that greasy, cholesterol- and sodium-laden barbacoa that went bad and was nearly consumed by the children who eat breakfast at the Brownsville Independent School District might have had something to do with the district losing its spot at the top of the statewide list compiled by Children at Risk.

The Houston-based nonprofit dropped BISD from 1 to number 14. All BISD  students qualify for free meals because a sufficiently high number of them qualify as low income.Children at Risk "encourages change for children through research, education and by influencing public policy."

The BISD  district has been operating without a permanent administrator for its food service programs for almost two years when Sliverio Capistran was found dead in his truck in front of his apartment, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
Murmurs of discontent surfaced when cafeteria directors across the district's 50-odd campuses detected a foul odor emanating from the bad barbacoa. The BISD moved to stop the use of the processed beef after it found out its distributor – Valco, of McAllen – was having the meat processed in Mexico. VCalco also provided babacoa to other school districts in Region 1 covering the area roughly south and east of Laredo almost to Corpus Christi in the east.

How Region 1 and school district nutritionists gave the barbacoa the thumbs up is anyone's guess. As you can clearly see by the nutrition information tag, there's not much nutrition there. Cholesteral, sodium, and saturated fat are some of the main components.

And even after the BISD administration insisted that the meat was U.S grown, doubts persisted to the point where the USDA launched and investigation that continues to this day.

There were other complaints. Some parents and students said they had been fed bad pork sausage during breakfast, among other things.

The non-profit also ranked other school dsitricts. RGV school districts in the top 10 are: Rio Grande City at No. 2, Weslaco at No. 3, McAllen at No. 5, Los Fresnos at No. 7 and Donna at No. 8. All five districts also provide some type of after school snack to students and most offer supper through the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

If the BISD Administration approved the meat, the nutritionists had to follow suit. It is stupid to think that any employee would defy the top Administration..likely Dr. Zendejas. The article in The Herald today sort of gives us an idea of how the BISD Trustees "don't listen and don't care" about what parents think and I am sure the employees know better than to challenge "the Administration". From previous articles on this blog, we know that BISD seems to put all the "bad guys" or those out of favor with "the Administration" end up in charge of Food Service. We surely hope that Elia's "friends" are being fed well.

Hasse is a racist, vato. How can you support this Trump guy? smh

Speaking of meat, what ever happened to the "fajita" caper at the detention center????? Does the county commission and the judges hope all will forget about that theft and lack of management by the courts?????? And let us not forget about the county computers which were found in the pulga by Channel 5. Has the county and Channel 5 both forgotten about all the information still on those computers?? Who was responsible and what has been done about it????

Nothing will happen. To many people have their hands in the cookie jar.The only one that EVER PAYS IS THE POOR TAXPAYER.VIVA LA RAZA.

Dr. Zendejas inherited the problem from the previous supt and his cronies. Try to find out why a FNS administrator has not been approved yet and you will slowly see where the problem lies. Todos le hechan la culpa a la pobre de la vieja Zendejas y mas vale que ella no se deja de nadie, dale ganas, Dr. Z. Clear this up once and for all.

The school board did it!

More and more fans are questioning Dr. Zendejas' leadership. They are saying that 'Coach' Joe is calling all the plays and Dr. Zendejas is merely executing his commands. It is no secret that the district is facing serious credibility issues."

Dear BISD Employees,

On Thursday and Friday of this week, BISD is seeking your input on a climate survey. The surveys are available in English and Spanish. All employees are encouraged to participate and respond to the climate survey at their campuses or specific locations for their departments. The surveys will be available at the locations by 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. for Middle Schools. Employees at the campuses may take the survey during their planning hours, before and after-school. The libraries will have the computers ready for school/campus staff to take the survey. The Central Administration Building (CAB), Transportation and Board Room hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

survey data is being collected by Region One. The climate survey will provide us feedback on the climate of our school district. Once the data has been gathered, Region One will present the information to our administration and Board of Trustees. If you have any questions on the survey, our BISD contacts are Mr. Robert Fisher (extension 2727) for the departments and BISD Central Office and Ms. Rosie Ara (extension 0171) for all school/campus-related survey questions.

Thank you for participating in this important activity.

My kids won't touch the stuff (all BISD SLOP)...it's gross, yet fully funded by our tax dollars as if they were serving Del Frisco steaks.

Pretty sad that the survey information has to be put out on a blog. Does BISD not have a better way to communicate with their employees ?

Folks that's what great with our City of Brownsville- ex cm manager payoffs, mayor double dipper deals, Tanaska etc, Cameron County fajita caper over $1 million dollars in fraud, and BISD this Mexican barbacoa deal gone sour, and yet there is no accountability and really all those in charge (city commission, BISD board members, Cameron County elected officials) don't give a hoot either, adios

Who in their right mind FEEDS THIS POISON TO OUR KIDS. Reminds me of a DRUG PUSHER. Dont care who they hurt long as they make the sale.Just plain DISGUSTING.

Barbacoa breakfast for school..WOOOW.

Just wow... I cant think of anything else to type. Someone needs to track the health of these kids, and if heart disease spikes in Brownsville in 40 years, you can blame it on BISD and sue them too.

Not to mention your feeding them food that will cause drowsiness and then send them off to class.

Bola de pendejos.

Smart move by Herr Hasse not putting his radio face on campaign ad otherwise you'd see his pointy nazi nose wearing a mini hood. Just kidding. You can't put a mini hood on a pointy nose. How would it stay in place? You could probably paint the pointy nose white and leave the nostril holes for the eyeholes. Or you could put an elastic band on a nose cone, a la new years, but that could be uncomfortable if the bonfire burns longer than four hours.

At the expense of all the children going to BISD politicians and administration approved the purchase of poison meat to feed the children. Has judge cornejo done anything about this situation? Has ANYBODY done anything? Will the board get re elected again? Will the administration be replaced? Well we know the answer to all these questions. Nadien piyo nadien lloro nadien se enojo nadien NADA!

BISD is not using this blog to advertise about the climate survey. I can bet my next paycheck that it is one or two of the head union male leaders who will go to no ends to reach everyone instead of providing information and conferencing at their meetings. These two monkeys are using the union membership to try to impress people that all their members think as stupidly as they do. It is obvious when the men speak at meetings that they are just to benefit their involvement with the unions. And, what is wrong with our teachers that have to resort to someone telling them how to vote and interpret things for them. You are letting them play their finger in your mouth. Think for yourself and keep up with what is going on yourself.
