A petition by Cameron CountyTax Assessor-Collector Tony Yzaguirre to expunge the record of the 23 charges of which a jury in Nueces County acquitted him has been granted has been granted in the court in which he was first charged – Janet Leal's 197th District Court.

The expungement order was granted by the court following the acquittal of the county tax collector by a jury in Nueces County.

The order will mean that all records related to the arrest, trial, and investigation will be removed from the files of the district clerk's court, county, state and federal agencies.

The order was signed January 25th by Leal.

"It took more than a year and cost upwards of $100,000 to get this far," Yzaguirre said today. "Even the lead investigators were recorded as saying that there was nothing there but the prosecution still carried it to a trial. I feel sorry for the other five tax office employees who don't have the means to fight the state. I understand that they will also petition to expunge their records as well."

Yzaguirre was acquitted of eight counts of bribery, six counts of abuse of official capacity, and one count of official oppression. The court dismissed the other eight charges at the request of his attorneys.

Authorities arrested him and a few of his employees in January 2016 as part of a two-year investigation dubbed "Operation Dirty Deeds."

The charges were filed when Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz was in a tight political reelection race. Observers say that Yzaguirre's indictment may have pushed Saenz over the top against challenger Carlos Masso.

The expungement order directs agencies such as the DA's Office, the Brownsville Police Department, the Texas Department of Pubic Safety, the Texas Rangers and the FBI, among others, to return all records and files subject to the order.

The corruption within the Cameron County Democratic Party continues. The corruption under the influence of Gilberto Hinojosa goes on and it appears that the citizens either don't give a shit or it is now a part of the culture of government that they expect.

SOOOOOOOOOO? What can we say about the prosecution and all the evidence they were suppose to have? Convince me that was just a mistake! Now, will the DA's office return all the money he spent on defending himself? I bet the same will happen with Elizondo.

Anonymous 9:17am You are full of shit!! The evidence spoke volumes in court!! It came out in court by the investigators/detectives from the DPS that there was no bribes being done in that office!! You need to realize the lengths that the DA went through to secure his win. He was the one shitting bricks to have pulled that shitty investigation to make sure Masso would lose!!

i thought of doing the same thing for a long time, but where do I go get my integrity back? Where do I go get my good reputation? Carlos Garcia, Charlie Cabler, Pete Gonzalez, Luis Saenz, Armando Villalobos, Atkinson and all those who conspired to bring me down, smeared me and succeeded in ruining my reputation. Even then, I can look any and all of those SOB's in the eye and none can sue me for slander, because they know I know. They were cowards then and are cowards now. Their KARMA will be well deserving and just.

Someone slipped up somewhere as to let this person walk, never mind there will always be a next time, as he will think he is untouchable.

I followed the case with great interest and like most thought another crooked rat had been caught. However, at trial it became clear that no crime has been committed and it was a political prosecution 100%. Any prosecutor (Saenz) who would abuse his office in such a way, should be removed by impeachment or vote.

Tony got lucky or the fix was on. What about all the properties his employees and friends were buying before the public got a chance at them ? He's a lucky, unethical bum and he knows it.

Tony is going to sue the crap out of the county, but I hope he also sues everybody involved on a personal basis. That way they can learn their lesson. Pay up from their pockets not from the county insurance. Para que duela PENDEJOS.

South Texas jury on Friday acquitted Cameron County Tax Assessor-Collector Tony Yzaguirre Jr. of bribery and abuse of official capacity charges. Seven other charges were dropped because of lack of evidence. After two days of deliberations, the jury in Nueces County found Yzaguirre not guilty on eight counts of bribery, six counts of abuse of official capacity and one count of official oppression.
So where does it say dropped because of legal technicality, he was ACQUITTED by a jury. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? Do you know what ACQUITTED means?

El perro que ladra es porque no tiene dientes!

El pendejo eres tu estupido menso.

I have always refused to make my required tax payments of any kind with a check made out to Tony Yzaguirre. Why not just Tax Assessor Collector? He is placed under indictment and he expects me to write out a check made out to his name?
Pitos!!!!!!
