How was it that Osiel Cardenas Jr., 26, son of Gulf Cartel capo Osiel Cardenas, who is serving a 25-year sentence for a host of drug trafficking charges, acquire a Cameron County District Attorney’s badge and – and despite being a convicted felon – was in possession of a Bersa Pistol, model Thunder 380 with .380 caliber ammunition?
Those are the questions being asked around the Cameron County courthouse today. Brownsville Police Dept. spokesmen told the Brownsville Herald that the weapon was made in Argentina and imported to New Jersey.(The Herald's Mark Regan wrote an update on his story late Tuesda saying that Cameron County D.A. Luis V. Saenz said the badge belonged to former Assistant District Attorney Ismael Hinojosa, who is now a defense lawyer who represents Cardenas in a petition for an occupational driver’s license.
Hinojosa declined to comment, citing attorney-client privilege.)
The police did not say under whose name the gun was registered. Federal prosecutors filed a charge against Cardenas Jr. for being a convicted felon who received a firearm through interstate or foreign commerce. They did not say under whose name the gun was registered.
At the time he was arrested,Cardenas Jr. was in probation scheduled to be completed this coming May.
The police report indicated that Cardenas Jr., who was arrested at approximately 2 a.m. on March 14 and charged by Brownsville police for unlawful carrying of a weapon, false report to a police officer and public intoxication.
At the time of his arrest, Cardenas Jr. reportedly displayed the Cameron County District Attorney’s badge inside the Sky Bar & Lounge while waving a pistol in the air, ordering patrons to leave the bar and threatening them with arrest, court proceedings and a criminal complaint indicate.
He is currently being held without bond.

The badge will have a number which should provide a detailed trail of it's comings and goings. When an Ast. DA leave the office, they can keep their badge, so it might be traced to a former Ast. DA
The handgun is not "registered" and in fact there is no registration in Texas. By way of the serial number, it can be traced from the importer to the first purchaser which will have a Federal Firearms License. The gun can be traced through the various owners that bought it from Federal licensed dealer. But one is is sold "mano a mano" in a private sale this paper trail is broken and things get much more difficult.
Guns are easy to get, but that badge raises real questions and somebody needs to get their nuts/tits in the wringer over that.
SKY BAR is a major narco hangout. Just hope you don’t accidentally bump into one of these wetbacks. They have killed for less. That is why brownsville is a cesspool.
The district attorney is the crook who lets these guys run the streets.. he probably give them the gas card to fill up their fancy trucks and cars.

Thank you Martha Galarza for exposing Luis Saenz's THEFT of county money. Mr .DA was caught stealing tax payers money for gas when his department already receive car allowances.
It was great to see all Team Saenz candidates lose or were not top in their races. The citizens of Cameron county are starting to see that the Saenz organization are in fact the corrupt individuals. They use the power of the DA office to settle personal vendettas ,intimidate innocent civilians and to seize control of Cameron county.
