As the 3:30 p.m. school class closing hour approached, numerous reports indicate that numerous drivers of the Brownsville Independent School District's Transportation Dept. were calling for a walkout in protest of their wage and labor demands.
Reports indicate the administration called on mechanics and dispatchers to try to avoid a disruption in taking students home before calling administrators.
Details on the extent of the threatened walkout remain sketchy, but we will monitor the situation as the afternoon progresses. If you have students riding the bus, there might be some delay in them getting home today.

Alamo well there goes the neighborhood, BISD don't have money to pay the bus drivers but hey we got $1.4 million dollars for a new scoreboard, so Joe Rod can get his 10% commission or more, Que bonito.
Is it possible that BISD has a plan to get drivers or get the kids home in case of this kind of walkout. Everyone that walks out should be fired.

The school district is too large and admistrators are too inept. Have the kids take the City buses. They do this in other cities. It'll make the City bus service better too.

Fair is fair. And these employees are tasked with safely transporting our precious children. Be advised i pay $7k in propeety taces, and drive my kids to school. Yet, i prefer to see my taxes spent on providing these employees with a better life over dr zendejas' ridiculous salary and the board's constant misapropriation of funds!

Yes parents need to be involved in their child's lives. However because these employees work from 5 am to 9am and then fron 2 pm to 6pm. Its hard for them to find 2nd jobs. They must be compensated adequetly.
Who's gonna babysit your kids and drive them around if you fire them? Your probably one of those on food stamps and expects or should say demand from the school to take care of you children while your out n about. Go pick up your own children. It does you good time to bond. Vieja jedionda

The parents should take responsibility. What if there was no such thing as a school bus? What would parents do! You had children. Take responsibilty!!!
Bola de mojados! They should be glad they have a job and when they took the job, they knew what the salary was and still went ahead and took it. Now they are the worse complainers in the district. Compare pay in other districts and we are well in the range of what is feasible. If they don't like it, go dig ditches and wash cars at the parking lots. They go to work 1 hour early and park their buses at the campus and ladies come visit them in the bus while they wait for students to be dismissed or they eat their tacos con chile. Their mouth burns with puro complains. Just check and see how many are citizens???
If you take a survey of who lives in public housing (Hud,county and city) you'll fine that 95% of the tenants are from Matamoros or some place in Mexico. ALL are on Medicaid, which provides free insurance, a provider, free panales, daycare centers (free food lunch) with mariachi music, free transportation and most if not ALL have NEVER worked a day of their miserable life here in the US..Which amount to "they have NEVER paid one penny of taxes. WHERE THE SHIT IS TRUMP? UNBELIEVEABLE
And what bus would these kids ride when they lived in Mexico?

Are all the writers calling these men/women drivers "mojados", are they all American citizens? White, Anglo, university educated? How do they know that these people are "mojados"? Do they talk to them? Find out about their lives and then talk about them? OR, do you live in their same barrio neighborhood and realize you actually ENVY them because they have an established LEGAL union that backs them up and you are un-employed or in a miserable job that you hate?
FYI IGNORANT commentors, when you apply for a job; from a custodian to a bus driver, to a professor, you HAVE to SHOW PROOF of LEGAL residency, citizenship, picture ID, ALL ORIGINAL documents if you want to work for Harmony Science Academy, South Texas ISD, Brownsville ISD, TSC, UTRGV. In some of their jobs, YES, you HAVE to SPEAK ENGLISH.
By the way, for Trump lovers, he is way too busy taking care of Stormy, Russia, Cohen, Muller, rocket man, trying to form a coalition of new republican senators to worry about stupid South Texas "problems". His immigration headache is in the California border. Texas is governed by a Republican that DOES NOT want to stir the pot because he knows that some of those "mojados" are American citizens that VOTE.
