Those of us who live in Cameron County have gotten used to district judges' disdain for the canons of judicial behavior.
In past elections, some of them have openly endorsed for political candidates and lent their name to those campaigns.
Whether it's in lower Cameron County like Brownsville in the county precinct races or as in the photo above, in the 197th District Court campaign of Adolfo Cordova who as can be seen, is being openly endorsed by the Sanchez brothers, including Judge David Sanchez, third from left. That's Cordova between the Twin Towers.
Cordova is in a tight runoff race with former Brownsville Navigation District commissioner Carlos Masso.
It's bad enough that the judge is taking sides, but look at the second guy from the left next to Sanchez. That's right. Yup. It's Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz. If you remember, he has faced Masso in two races for the DA's Office and won, the last one many say as a result of the indictment of Cameron County Tax Assessor-Collector Tony Yzaguirre and a handful of tax office employees in the waning days of the campaign.
Yzaguirre was acquitted of the charges and the other employees were reinstated with back pay from the county's general fund.
But there is a more troubling aspect to Sanchez and Saenz's involvement in the 197th race. If the DA's Office brings a case before either Sanchez and Cordova (if he wins) will it amount to a form of forum shopping to associate himself with their campaign?
As we say up here in the northern llano, only in Cameron County!

Wow that has got to be illegal and UNETHICAL. I would expect Judge Sanchez to conduct him self in a more profesional manner, but i will remember this when hes up for reelection VOTE NO for Cordova and Sanchez.

Its no longer a political party its the person who is running and what he/she stands for however theres been more democratic elected officials indicted,convicted and sentenced in this county. Mr. Cordova, I was all set to go vote for you after you came to my house and spoke with me. I now see that you have associated yourself with the unscrupulous DA Saenz and as a result, to start off, you have lost 10 votes from my family, which can make it or break it. You made a boo-boo in getting him to support you cause now you are compared to his cronies.

"Team Saenz" is a good indicator to a voter to stay away from a candidate. They do not back the best candidate, they back the candidates that will owe them everything. Thanks to "Team Saenz" we have lots of losers in different positions. Thank you to who ever took this pic to allow my decision to vote for MASSO to be an easy one!
