THE SUSHI WAS GREAT, BUT THE BISD MOVIDAS WERE BETTER

(Ed.'s Note: It has been said that Brownsville is a small city with a lot of people in it. It's nigh impossible for anyone to do anything without their neighbor finding out about it. That's probably what Brownsville Independent School District trustees Cesar Lopez and Laura Perez-Reyes will say when they see this photo of them tete-a-tete with Superintendent Esperanza Zendejas at a local sushi place.

Were they discussing the sushi? The state of district finances? Or perhaps the wording of Zendejas' swan song and exit strategy? Just when you though you could go somewhere for some privacy. Thanks to one of our seven readers for this revealing photo.)

You can only imagine what these three were up to.

Well, that is NOT unusual.
On May 10, at about 9 am, I was sitting one table away from Cesar Lopez and Joe Rodriguez. From what I could hear (one table is not that far away)they were discussing "business sales". About 10 minutes after they arrived, a well dressed old Hispanic man came in and sat with them. I figured he was the one they were doing business with. The place was filling up (Mexican mothers day) so we left and they discussed their business. Almuerzos at Super Cream can be a heavy load.

As long as there is no quorum, the board members and the superintendent can meet for a cup of coffee any time they please. Perhaps this idiot who took the picture should have introduced himself and asked to join them and find out that they could have been working on the agenda for the special called board meeting. This is allowable especially with the president of the board for every meeting. What about when the other 3 meet together, Sylvia, Minnie and Paul. They were seen together last week and you didn't make an issue out of it, Juan. What gives? It is evident that someone is paying you big money to publicize what she wants publicized. Brownsville is an ant hill that nobody can escape, so why would they try to be hiding around here? Especially since Dr. Z is known by everyone in the city - how can she hide?

Did you notice they are sitting by the window in plain view and not in a dark corner like the others do?

Do you mean to tell me that board members and the supt. cannot meet or talk to each other? As long as their is no quorum to break the open meeting's law, they can meet and discuss whatever they please, whenever they please. Afterall, the board is the supt's boss and must approve what she recommends if they find it appropriate and correct. How else are they suppose to keep in contact besides social media in the hiding. When someone has nothing to hide, they don't have to hide when having lunch with someone. Pero like the previous blogger said in Spanish, "You, Juan, are just looking for fuel to add to the fire!" Sad but true and the fire is fed to you by people in order for you not to put them in your blog. You think this is not evident?

Anonymous at 6:33 p.m. is a liar. Philip, Minerva, and Ms. Atkinson have not been seen by anyone eating or meeting together. Espy and Joe are must be getting desperate.

Jaun Montoya, I ask that you find a hobby and get a life! How you look for the faults of individuals is a demeanor of your internal you! ha ha ha if that makes sense at all to you. You sound like D. Trump! over and over the same shit, day in and day out! Why can YOU try to focus on the good if any they do and go from there. You sir, infest the community with hate and anger; and that is not right but is a shame. You should use your beautiful writing skills to inform how the town can be come better, how people are kind how we all try day in and day out to make the best with what was given; instead of trashing the town that has seen you grow and yet you have not done one thing good for your own community. If you think trashing and exposing people does any good; you might want to think again.

you need to stop your hate and give out love, favor, grace, kindness, compassion and try to make it brighter to those that are starting off. Have a nice beautiful day !

It's like hunting for ducks you need a duck call to snatch a duck. Juan is doing that but not ducks but idiots like yourself...
Keep up the excellent work Juan and don't mind these pendejos that want to hide the truth.

That is the problem! It is not the truth! Juan prints whatever someone tells him if the motivation is there. We actually want the truth, but it is so obvious when Juan has it against someone. What has Espy done to you, Juan?
Why so much hate for her? Face her and tell her.

D. Informal or Social Meetings
When a quorum of the members of a governmental body assembles in an informal setting, such as
a social occasion, it will be subject to the requirements of the Act if the members engage in a verbal
exchange about public business or policy. The Act’s definition of a meeting expressly excludes
gatherings of a “quorum of a governmental body at a social function unrelated to the public
business that is conducted by the body.”134 The definition also excludes from its reach the
attendance by a quorum at certain other events such as conventions, ceremonial events and press
conferences.135 In both instances, there is no “meeting” under the Act “if formal action is not taken
and any discussion of public business is incidental to the social function, convention, workshop,
ceremonial event, or press conference.”136

verb
excludes
deny (someone) access to or bar (someone) from a place, group, or privilege.

If the majority of the board is meeting this constitutes an illegal meeting according to the Open Meetings Act it excludes this types of gatherings.
So what else is new in this 3rd world city?
