A READER ASKS: IS THIS THE WAY THINGS SHOULD BE DONE?

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

Maybe its just a peeve but why do our "new" improved streets continue to look horrible?

FM 802 is one of our most traveled thorough fares. yet the city employees or private contractors hired for the face lift cannot align the street markers.

I saw the same lackluster results when Boca Chica was repaved a few years ago.

Why do we settle for below standard results. our tax dollars are being wasted by not demanding quality work? It's embarrassing.

Do the reflectors go on the lines or between the
lines? Should they be straight? Surely they don't belong parallel to the median stripes, do they?

Take some pride in your job city workers!

Aside from the lines being crooked, the flimsy stick on reflectors to the right of the painted lines are meant to be (and are marketed as) temporary reflectors placed to delineate lanes after the asphalt has been laid and before lane striping (painting) and/or permanent reflector installation occurs.

Supervisors? Where are you when this is being done? Are these lines painted on a Monday after a long-hard drinking week-end and thus not passing the roadside soberity test? Most of our streets do not have lines bright enough for anyone to see and if you are not familiar with the road, you really have no way of knowing where you are driving. Bottom line, the streets in Brownsville are atrocious. Where are the commissioners to investigate their area and order those streets to be paved and marked. The paint Rose Gowen is using to draw bicycles on every street should be used for lines such as those at Security and International where no guide is there for a west turn right or an east turn left. We almost kiss the car come in the opposite direction.

All Rivera HS needs is a new scoreboard to go along with the in-door practice facility and gazillion dollar field house and everything will be hunky dory.

Its a reflection on the administration. The labor personnel trying to sent a message!

I wonder if Rose Gowan, would except the shoddy work on the bike trails, or would she claim a million dollars for a firm of her own choice to inspect them. She might call on the Black Mamba Rene Oliveria to form a special investigation for her hike and bike trails.

This is a TX-DOT project, not City.

Public Works head has no meaningful education and is NOT an engineer. Very few heads of departments have any higher education or crdentials. You want a CPA in the finance? Not here. A urban planner? Not here. All Cabler buddies that somehow still hang around. Mediocrity breeds mediocrity.

FM 802 is a State road not a City road. Are you sure these were CITY employees?
