Six Cameron County Tax Assessor-Collector employees – including elected official Tony Yzaguirre – have filed complaints with the DPS Office of Inspector General against agents Rene Olivarez and Ryan G. Maza asking that they be criminally investigated for Abuse of Official Capacity and Official Oppression.
The complaints were dated October 19, 2018, and the DPS Office of Inspector General acknowledged receipt of the complaints October 25. IG Captain Bonnie Casey-Moore sent the tax employees' attorney – Brownsville attorney Eddie Lucio who defended Yzaguirre in Nueces County – a letter of receipt and indicated that a copy of the complaints had been forwarded to the DPS Criminal Investigation Division for investigation.
Operating under the name "Operation Dirty Deeds." the case was tried at the direction of Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz and prosecuted by Asst. D.A. Peter Gilman who was assisted by Asst. D.A. Edward Sandoval.
Following the acquittal of Yzaguirre, D.A. Saenz dismissed the other 17 charges against the five other defendants. In their complaints, the six defendants ask that both Olivarez and Maza be investigated and that charges be filed on them for official misconduct and oppression. They also ask that they be dismissed from their employment with the DPS.

It is Luis Saenz that should be invesagted and charged with fraud and Coruption.
That should have been done years ago when he was DA but uneducated people would still vote for him anyway.
Luis Saenz should be charged with Coruption for the way he has handled the Rene Oliveria case, he has shown that he has been caught by the scumbag Rene Oliveria otherwise Oliveria would be in jail not sitting in Cobbleheads laughing at the system. Saenz is as much to blame for Rene Oliverias drinking and drug abuse, then Rene is showing the way to beat the law.
Luis Saenz is behind this clusterfuck! He is worthless and uses his office to settle personal vendettas! We need to vote his sorry ass out!
If Luis Saenz was to put the scumbag Rene Oliveria in jail, Oliveria would sing his heart out, and Saenz would be in jail for a lot longer.
luis is a dog-wow wow
Dirty breach of law must stop
@ Anonymous 9:28 you are so RIGHT! Luis promotes drunken behavior he is extremely lenient on DUI cases! His drunk nephew, niece, and good buddy Rene are prime examples of his attitude about drinking and driving and being under the influence of a controlled substance while operating a motor vehicle. Voters do what is right and vote Luis out in 2020! Remember power in the wrong hands hurts the innocent and further victimizes the victim! Justice does NOT exist in Cameron County! We need accountability and integrity in the state prosecutors office!
He will be in jail before 2020. along with a few more people who think they are above the law.
DA Luis Saenz should stop prosecuting people for small amounts of cannabis 4 ounces or less. for simple possession.
