UP GO COMMISSIONER NEECE'S $450,000 OF EYES-IN-THE SKY

Crews of Xtreme Security & Fire of Brownsville are seen installing some of  the more than $498,000 worth of 40 camera systems in the Main Street district, which is roughly encompassed by Adams, 14th, Levee and 8th streets. A committee of city and police officials started researching the project in August 2017, and installation is scheduled to be completed in November.

Commissioner Ben Neece, who represents downtown Brownsville, said the cameras not only will help catch criminals but also deter them as word gets around. During the commission meeting, he said there’s still a perception that the area is dangerous despite “vibrant and robust momentum” that has drawn new businesses and entertainment venues downtown.

The dead zone of Brownsville is the downtown area and for 40 cameras for half millions dollars, COB was taken to the cleaners again. Who's going to get those monitoring jobs , same family members for 50 thousand dollars pay checks.

Isn't that a pretty expensive security system by Ben Neece's bar and apt? It sounds like Mr. Neece is directly benefiting from this and he should have recused himself from voting on the cameras.

Ben Neece surely would vote for these cameras....he has a business or is invested in a business downtown. He should have recused himself from that vote. He is protecting his investment. What about the rest of Brownsville? City Commission is a joke...a downtown joke.

Cameras and bike trails - the major needs for Brownsville. The bike trails are better paved than the streets and who uses them?

Bike trails, nylon building, generator, whore house, quarter million dollars of severance pay and now cameras in the downtown area "WHEN IS THIS GOING TO STOP".

I wonder what Cory Mara has to say about selective prosecution!

Meanwhile Valley International Airport just announced 42 Million in construction at zero debt and zero cost to taxpayers.

Maybe those cameras can help him find the stash the dog ate.

Plus the eviction of 100's of citizens to improve a non used airport.

You mean to tell me that one of our city commissioners actually uses the stash? Some role model for the youth city ambassadors. I hope he doesn't share with them.

How about selective non prosecution?

Only elected officials and their cronies are entitled to selective non prosecution.
