I voted for the BISD candidates that will consider doing away with the TRES, three months vacation with pay and will consider year round schooling.

I’m surrounded by morons! Texas education code requires 180 days of instruction.The state also requires for teachers yearly salary be divided by twelve, the number of months in a year. so that they get a salary during summer break when most parents should be babysitting their own kids.If you need childcare for the other 185 days of the year thers daycare. Even if we go year round school the number of state required instructional time is the same. Ex.Socorro isd in El Paso Tx. summer break starts Memorial Day till July 29, they get the first 2wks off in October for intersession, 1wk for Thanksgiving, 2 wks Christmas holiday, and 2 wks spring break. Same number of school days and time it’s only spread out through the year. Look into this BISD. By the way give teachers a break some of them actually went to college and have to put up with whining administrators, parents and your kids too.

It is a fact that teachers get three months off with pay - so what. If a citizen makes a comment on these facts why do some of these educators go on a rage and in front of the community insult and are disrespectful and scornfully are abusive to any body that makes comments about their paid vacation.

I find it funny how people automatically have to assume that the people defending teachers are actually teachers. I'm not even a teacher. I'm someone who understands how the system works. I have family members who are teachers and every time something like this comes up, some idiot has to bring up how teachers have a three month paid vacation. Whether or not you think some responses are rude, what's even more rude is the fact that people always think they can shit on teachers. I've never once seen a profession, other than maybe law enforcement, that gets shit on as much as teachers do. Everybody thinks they can be a teacher. Everybody thinks they can tell them what to do. Everybody thinks they can do the job better than the teachers can. There isn't another profession where the people getting paid are asked to supply their own materials, yet a teacher is asked to do so and they're seen as bad teachers if they don't spend their own money getting those supplies.
The community loves using teachers as a punching bag. Again, I'm sure you're going to believe whatever the hell you want to believe, but teachers do NOT get a three month paid vacation. Their yearly salary is divided up into 12 months so they can receive a paycheck during the summer vacation. They aren't getting paid vacation, they're simply getting the money that's owed to them. You're probably one of those idiots who thinks teachers are overpaid, too. I'm sick and tired of people always talking like they know what they're talking about and taking a shit on teachers. Teachers often volunteer their time and do things without actually getting compensated all the time, but you idiots don't see it. You simply keep on with your three month paid vacation bullshit.
