Robert Garza, a former Cameron County Judge was arrested on Wednesday morning on several charges.
Details are limited but according to jail records, Garza is charged with driving while intoxicated, evading arrest with a vehicle and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
He was arrested in Palmview, according to court records.
Palmview police arrested Garza, who is a visiting judge for the 5th Administrative Judicial Region, which oversees the Rio Grande Valley, on charges of evading arrest with a motor vehicle and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
The 65-year-old was booked into the Hidalgo County jail at 1:53 p.m., according to jail staff.
A Palmview Municipal Court judge set Garza’s cash bond at $25,000, and he was released Wednesday evening.

What is the difference between a Lawyer and a Judge? The Judge sits in jail, and the scumbag lawyer Rene Oliveria was out of jail in hours. This shows who had the biggest black book.
Oliveria still flouts the DA Luis Saenz and the system.
Aw shucks...that can happen to anybody.
Anybody, could be you or i, we all do drink and we can get a DWI but, a former District Judge should know better. If you have had drinks, get a taxi or somebody to drive you. He used poor judgement. If you are out with friend's have a driver or get a taxi or drink at home. Have drinks but, have a driver. Merry Xmas...
AREN'T STATE DISTRICT JUDGES ALLOWED TO CARRY HANDGUNS LEGALLY WITHOUT A PERMIT??????????????????????

How many times has Judge Banales come down from Corpus? It would be good to read some stories about him.
2:58...Judge or no judge, CHL or no CHL, you can't carry on or about your person a handgun when you are intoxicated. El la ley!
If he gets caught his punishment should be 50 years in jail...He need to be an example
reply 10.40 PEDISIMOOOOO
Yes it could happen to ANYBODY , but I hope this ANYBODY gets processed, gets the same fines ,and punishment that an everyday ANYBODY gets. However, some ANYBODIES get special treatment, and continue to move on. They shake it off, continue to represent the people, pass judgement, and place fines on others. Yes, let's set an example.
To DA Rick, you need to set an example of former Judge Garza! I understand about first time BUT what kind of message do you send if you just slap the hand of a violator?
I really like Garza BUT if I have to be careful or exercise good judgment, then a sitting or former elected official should do the same thing!
