LACK OF TRAFFIC LIGHT SYNCHRONIZATION SNARLS TRAFFIC

(Ed.'s Note: What the picture depicts above is a common occurrence in Brownsville. Even though there is sparse traffic at the intersection of Paredes Line Rd. and Boca Chica Blvd. this Saturday morning, the traffic lights guiding motorists lack any kind of synchronization and results in situations like the scene above.

Here, the light has turned to green for a southbound motorists on Paredes, yet the lights guiding the traffic on Boca Chica under the overpass at US 77/83 remain red, trapping the westbound drivers who block the intersection for those either crossing Boca Chica or trying to turn right. Additionally, even if the cars on Boca Chica had cleared the corner, the No Right Turn On Red sign on Paredes prevents drivers from proceeding on to the boulevard.

If they do turn right against the warning sign, any city police or other law enforcement officer could issue them a traffic citation. This situation occurs daily on many other intersections in the city to the exasperation of local drivers, especially during rush hour or when school bus traffic crowds the roads. In the case above, we are told that the light changed to green twice before the driver was able to proceed.)

I thought that Nimrod Oscar was in charge of the traffico lights, with his huge salary he kept from when he ran the HR. Another crony hidden in the system getting a fat paycheck for doing absolutely nothing.

This wouldn't be happening if Robert Esparza was not illegally forced out of the city by Michael Lopez. As Traffic Director, Mr. Esparza ran a tight ship.As the years go by, things will go worst without the right leadership running the traffic department. Having Michael Lopez will cause the city dearly in lawsuits for all the witch hunts he conducted while intern City Manager.

City engineers gets very defensive on this subject and write letters to the editor.
The commissioner he attacked, never responded to this disrespectful employee. He should have been fired for showing such blatent disrespect. Especially since he’s a damn fool who can’t do his job.

Pls tell yr IT manager to simplify the stupid frustrating game we have to play to submit a post. Most of the images that come up are too small to see on my iphone. So i just give up after the 4try, and drop my post. It doesn’t take tricky questions for you to know i’m not a spammer

Some time back I called the traffic super and ask when as the city going to synchronize the traffic lights and the respond I got back was "What was synchronization"?

Unfortunately Brownsville officials mentality is stoke in the Speed Trap Pueblito (Small Village) days, where most traffic controlling signs had the purpose of generate fines, just lije the Downtown Park Meters.

To the person that commented on (January 6, 2019 at 4:15 AM) which is probably Robert. This problem has been going on since "ESPARZA" was in charged. I just don't understand why in all the other cities everything it is synchronized. FM 802 is the worst.. This was started in ESPARZA era.
Good riddance.

If you're at a red light on wild rose and price the only way you can catch the green light on price and central blvd if you go 40mph, the speed limit there is 30mph, most people that drive on these streets know this, so does PD. So PD parks a member of the motorcycle gang there, this is call a speed trap and the the city agrees to do this illegal act along with PD.
If you need to go somewhere near the closed walmart on Hwy 48 and you are on central blvd and 802, forget about it. It will take you abt an hour to get there. Once you get a red light "every" single traffic light will be red all the way to hwy 48.
Traffic on Hwy 48 in the evening, don't even go there - full of trucks and the trucks use both lanes and they slow the traffic to a crawl. This is illegal and PD does "NOTHING".

REMEMBER CITY ELECTIONS ARE AROUND THE CORNER ALL THESE ILLEGAL ACTS MUST STOP AND THE ONLY WAY TO DO THIS IS TO NOT RE-ELECT ANY CITY COMMISSIONER SPECIALLY DA MAYOR...

@jan6 8:56...The traffic lights situation can never be perfect for everyone, but under Esparza era it was better controlled, as best as it could be. Now you have a green engineer director, and oscar Salinas who doesn't know anything about traffic lights synchronization. So, things will get worst, as time passes on, mark my word.

IMAGINE if cabler wins do you think he'll assign more work to PD or tell them to start doing their JOB? I don't think so...
