LITTLE MUSIC MAKERS FROM EL JARDIN ELEMENTARY IN 1931

(Ed.'s Note: One of our readers sent us this photo of the 1931 El Jardin Elementary mejicanito band. It was the bad old times when when racism was the norm and there was nothing wrong with separate but equal doctrine. Did you know any of these kids growing up?)

To 1:45 pm, do you think your remark is funny? I don't think the relatives of the individuals in this classic picture think so. This picture meant a lot to the person who sent it in.

It's Juanito's girl friend, infatuation goes a long way. Since its going to be cold this week end, she's rattling las covijas. Verda Juanito???

Say what you will, when those kids graduated from BHS, the spoke, read and wrote first class English. Todays grads are only semi-literate in two languges. I taught these dear ones at UTB/TSC and there were way behind the English language curve. Very few of them could write a complete short paragraph in English that could pass muster. Good young people, eager to learn but started at a big disadvantage thanks to BISD.

To 6:53, what do your remarks have to do with the picture of the school children or do you have the wrong article? Are you lost or something?

The Cajuns speak poor english and are stuck in S. Lousiana in their swamp. The Brownsvill Mexican speak poor english and are stuvck in law wage jobs in the Balley. I don't get the point about Cajuns and poor english. Without decent english skill you are stuck in a rut in life's road.

Germans and polacos are worst they spit all over your face. Saw her means sausage.

I can tell when a deer is in rut but cajons, germans and some local boggers that insist in using the word rut and pass themselves as excellent in their writings of words to communicate their ideas are simply full of rut.
