I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW, THE RAIN IS GONE...

(Ed.'s Note: After almost a week of wet, dreary, gray days, the sun finally peeked out from behind the clouds. The shorts and T-shirts came out as did the pets like the cat above who is sunning himself on the brick fence in front of the house near an alleyway on E. 11th and Monroe streets. The balmy weather is supposed to stretch into the weekend. Enjoy!)

What's up with that two story Pacheco Building in front of that apartment. Is it ever gonna get restored? What another big loss if the city just lets it go to waste. We've lost so many beautiful buildings over the years. Hope we don't lose this one.

We're losing historic residences too. Brownsville can either become another New Orleans/Charleston/Savannah in historic preservation of its original architecture and culture or turn into a backwater river town like one of those dumps on the Mississippi and upper Rio Grande (too many examples to remember their names). Even Laredo right now is trying to capitalize on its river heritage and has some really good ideas.

You should see how your brothers the hillbillies live, just like you or you forgot already. In a dump house.
