YET ANOTHER INMATE DEATH AT RUCKER CARRIZALES

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

The Cameron County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that yet another inmate in their custody has died, and some sources say that it was the result of a confrontation with jail guards.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the death of the inmate.Authorities say the inmate died at a local hospital Tuesday morning. He is identified as Gabriel Angulo Rivera, 41.

This is the third incident involving the death of an inmate at the Carrizales-Rucker Cameron County Detention Center in four years.

In one case, the county agreed to pay the family of Fernando Longoria $1 million dollars.

Longoria died while in solitary confinement in 2015.
Sheriff Omar Lucio made an official statement at 1:30 p.m today.

According to extra-official sources, the man - jailed March 21 on charges of child support, DWI and Failure To Appear- was involved in a confrontation Saturday, March 23, with jail guards and then was taken to the jail's infirmary later when other inmates reported that he was spitting out blood.

According to the medical report from Valley Regional Hospital, Rivera suffered severe blunt trauma to the head that led to cardiac arrest.

He was rushed to the hospital where he died Tuesday.

The sheriff's department issued a statement saying:  "By state mandate when an inmate dies in custody, an outside agency will conduct an investigation. Case has been assigned to the Texas Rangers."

In a press release issued by the department noted that since 2004, Rivera had been charged with numerous charges at least five times before ranging from DWI, possession of a controlled substance, family violence, assault, and aggravated assault causing bodily injury.

Le recetaron unos correctives admnistrados por los jail guards. In Cameron County we have our own cartel sicarios, AKA jail guards.

It is time to retire the Sheriff . 80 plus years Mr. Lucio should be enjoying life . The sheriff Dept at the present time has a 3.5 million dollar law suit pending that will not be won due to the negligence of his staff. When the prisoner escaped from the transporting deputy and went and killed a man in his own home. This will pretty much deplete the general fund causing taxes to go sky high. The sheriff continues to hire and maintain incompetent jail administrators. His chief Jailer Mike liehnart has quit and retired only to be rehired again and again. Voters of Cameron County lets do sheriff lucio a favor and give him his retirement papers next 2020 election cycle

It's the price of a candy bar that killed him, Juan. You wrote they were $1.50 in jail! LOL

At least 1, if not more of those guards, will eventually get prosecuted.

Time for Omar Lucio to step down! Third inmate death in four years. The misuse of OPSG monies by former Captain Carlos Garza who earned overtime pay while mowing working a second job WITH county property. Deputy Chief Gus Reyna crashing a county owned vehicle off duty and intoxicated on a weekend. The unnecessary escape of an inmate who murdered an innocent man and led law enforcement on a chase that ended in an officer involved shooting (dead men tell no tales). The cheating scandal amongst his 11 ALREADY Deputies who took the civil service exam and shared answers with their cell phones. The various promotions of ass kissers and demotions (re assignments) and passing over of legitimate Deputies. The hiring of a Deputy who was expelled from his police academy and then terminated just weeks later after wearing his department issued bullet proof vest, duty belt, and badge (no shirt) to a local night club/bar as a “Halloween costume.” The $2,000 average raise (starting salary is just over $35k a year) in the past 10 years for his Deputies who work their asses working their 40 hours a week PLUS extra duty details just to support their families (no balls to stand up to County Commissioners) The list goes on and on and yet this “Sheriff” remains. The problem is at the top and trickles down. They all need to go so this Department can advance to 2019 and beyond. Time to retire and ride off into the sunset before it’s sets on you old man!

Omar Lucio is one of the reasons Cameron County remains a joke to the rest of the valley...out with the old!

The guards restrained him with unnecessary force. They should have tasered him, not beat his head against a wall. There will be yet another suit against the Brownsville police department and they will lose because of this unprofessional conduct.

Like Aurora de la Garza, it seems that Sheriff Omar Limas is untouchable, not matter how many people die in his custody or how corrupt he and the Reyna brothers are. Why is Omar so sacred here in Cameron County? He is too old, too senile and not the brightest bulb....but then, intelligence is not a criteria for holding political office in Cameron County. Guards beat a man to death and they get a free ride, like the actor in Chicago. It is really too bad that the people of Cameron County allow this level of corruption to exist.

Corruption galore and they print all his past record pinche jotos no dignity for any body what chicken shits. NO RESPECT trying to save their asses at any cost. This agency needs to change and quick. Killing somebody for no apparent reason is no joke. THIS IS PLAIN "MURDER" OF THE WORST KIND pinches cobardes.
If there's going to be a trial all the jurors will be tainted need to change to another county like corpus.
Sounds like they have already consulted an attorney, and will pay????
