(Ed.'s Note: Polling site workers with the Cameron County Elections Office may complain about the low turnout in the City of Brownsville city commission elections, but compared to four years ago, the turnout is actually high. A comparison of this year's turnout for the first two days (2,028) with the votes cast four years ago (1,391) shows that 637 more people have voted this year than in 2015. The rate, however, is still very low poll workers say. There are 14 candidates on the ballot this year. There are three candidates running for mayor:
1. Trey Mendez
2. Tony Martinez
3. Charlie Cabler ,
Four for Commissioner At-Large "A"
1. Jessica Puente Bradshaw

4. Ismael Hinojosa,
Four for Commissioner District 1

Fuking Cabler was forced to retired and how can anyone want him as Mayor??? Do you want a guy who was having an inappropriate relationship with a city employee? Drinks and hits a car. Guess why he didn't call police?.? He failed the city employees... No raises or costs of living for more than 6 years...but he did approve raises for HR. Oscar Salinas and Asst. HR Josue. He is a greedy man (Ambulance scandal) and Brownsville deserve better than this pos.
All our mayoral candidates suck.
Charlie Cabler
Carlos Guerrero
Jessica Tetreau-Kalifa
