GMS VS. COB SUIT ON WASTE CONTRACTS FESTERS

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

It'll be Thursday - after a flurry of motions and counter motions by all parties involved - whether to extend or dissolve a Temporary Restraining Order issued against the City of Brownsville will be considered in the 445th District Court as will a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed against the city by GMS.

The commercial waste management firm has had a contract with the city since 1985 when the city commission decided to put out Requests For Proposals for the service in 2017. GMS was among three companies who responded to the RFP. Allied/Republic and Redfish Republic also vied for the lucrative contract.

GMS filed the lawsuit May 6 naming the City of Brownsville, Mayor Tony Martinez, commissioners Rose M. Z. Gowen, Ricardo Longoria, Jr., Joel Munguia, Ben Neece, Jessica Tetreau, and former commissioner Cesar De Leon as defendants.

The company sued Tetreu in her official and individual capacity and De Leon in his individual capacity. GMS claimed that both defendants had conflicts of issue on the matter and that De Leon had committed tortious interference in considering and discussing the contract.

Judge Gloria Rincones granted GMS attorneys their motion to depose Tetreau and De Leon.

The hearings on the defendants' motion to dissolve the TRO and to dismiss the GMS case will be heard in the 445th District Court at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30.

on this city elections NO BROWNSVILLE,TX CITIZEN WILL WIN. Everyone is running with an agenda. Everyone running has a score to settle. Everyone running wants money not to create jobs or improve our image but to sell land their friends have that is worthless but when we the tax payers pay for it all of a sudden it is prime realestate. Look at everyone, they are running as a slate. Trey,Nurith and John against Charlie, Rick and Jessica.

It is sad to see that no one has the balls to run their own race, but instead is running for the majority of the votes for the commission. We are not going to get a better city government, we are getting spoiled brats that are attorneys. They rule on the fact that it is not illegal but its certainly unethical. Very unethical.
