(Ed.'s Note: The July 4th parade started with the Brownsville Police Department's color guard and Fire Department's bagpipes. Rain, which threatened half an hour before the parade started, held off and the sky cleared before the last participants walked the route.
Various participants followed including the Brownsville Herald, the American Legion, Charro Days, Ass. District Judge Louis Sorola and wife JP 2-3 Mary Ether Sorola with their two girls Sofia and Adalia and pooch Bruno, Judge Estela Chavez-Vasquez and entourage including a patriotic English bulldog, gymnasts, Judge Migdalia Lopez, Xochil, Rick Trevino, Erasmo Castro, the legion of horsemen and the dancing horse, all under the watchful eye of the Border Patrol's helicopter which spent all morning flying along the route.)

The only time border Americans go downtown. 90% of the people are from Matamoros; the other 10% Orientals from the stores and Mexican Americans with transportation (NO BUS during a Holiday)Oh, I forgot, charro days is the other time. Ironic.
