DID AMENDMENTS TO PORT OF BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS A&M, TSC AND TSTC M.O.U. COME TOO LITTLE TOO LATE?

(Ed.'s Note: According to some Brownsville Navigation District trustees, changes to the proposed Memorandum Of Understanding [In red, click on graphic to enlarge] were too little and made too late to change the outcome of the motion and unanimous vote to table it by the commissioners.

The proposed changes to the MOU were made to include Texas Southmost College along with Harlingen-based Texas State Technical College and A&M as parties to the agreement. However, port commissioners decided to table the proposed MOU and some say the item may be brought back some time in the future after the misunderstandings have been hashed out and cleared.

All these elected officials and institutions acknowledge that workforce training is of critical importance to the region's economic development. Hopefully, they can set aside their differences and clear the obstacles to the labor force progress so necessary here.)
